Essential Job Responsibilities:
The Project Director (PD) is responsible for supporting the delivery, governance, and coordination of the Tampa Cruise Terminal Development Project. The role ensures the project is executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with organizational objectives and stakeholder expectations. The PD facilitates communication, manages project controls, coordinates multi-disciplinary project activities, supports and collaborates with Engineering Leads on permitting, construction, and operational readiness efforts from early planning through commissioning and handover. The PD facilitates communication with all internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies and port authorities, to guide the project forward towards completion.
- Support overall project execution strategy across design development, land use, local, state and federal permitting, environmental strategy, execution of mitigation and conservation projects, public and government engagement, financial accountability, construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Assist in development and implementation of project execution plans, collaborating with internal teams including executive management, engineering, procurement, quality, HSE, sustainability, communications, engagement, and operations.
- Coordinate daily, midterm, and long-term activities between engineering, construction, stakeholders, consultants, regulatory bodies, internal and external leadership, and community entities. Conduct regular coordination meetings.
- Track project schedules, milestones, and critical path activities while identifying risks and mitigation strategies.
- Maintain project documentation, including meeting minutes, schedules, progress reports, action logs, RFIs, and contract communications.
- Support budget tracking, invoice review, contract changes, and financial reporting.
- Support the management and facilitation of permitting coordination and engagement with relevant regulatory agencies.
- Assist in leading project governance activities, preparing materials for executive reviews and steering committees.
- Coordinate site visits, inspections, progress evaluations, and operational readiness activities.
- Support construction, commissioning, and systems testing activities to ensure safe and efficient project delivery.
- Track and support resolution of issues, risks, and change management items.
- Ensure alignment with organizational safety, environmental, and operational policies.
- Capture and report project lessons learned, ensuring feedback is integrated into SSA's portfolio.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent project coordination experience accepted.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in project management, coordination, construction administration, or infrastructure development.
- Completion of HCSS -- Heavy Bid/Job Construction Management Program 30 Hour OSHA
- Experience working with ports, transportation infrastructure, or marine-related facilities preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at Board and executive levels
- Deep knowledge of project controls, cost forecasting, and risk management for megaprojects.
- Ability to structure and lead cross-functional project execution teams across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations.
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills to resolve contractor claims, regulatory challenges, and execution risks.
- Proficiency in MS Office, SharePoint, and project management software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced project environments.
- Familiarity with permitting processes and public-sector coordination
