Role: Sr. WebSphere MQ & Kafka Systems Engineer Duration: 10 months with potential for extension Location: 100% Remote *On-Call Rotation after first few months (every 2 months, will have 1 full week rotation) Main focus areas here are:
Description Senior IT Systems Engineers are responsible for monitoring, installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting and maintenance of technology solutions. Senior IT Systems Engineer's provide technical support and troubleshoot problems and perform scripting/programming to ensure stable and efficient operation of technology solutions. Senior IT Systems Engineers drive and implement automation enhancements and process improvement efforts, are assigned to multiple complex systems/applications. They lead initiatives, oversee work results, provide training and serve as a technical resource for other Systems Engineers. We are seeking an experienced WebSphere MQ Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of our WebSphere MQ infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience with MQ, Kafka, and ideally AWS and mainframe. Key Responsibilities: Administer and maintain WebSphere MQ environments, including installation, configuration, and upgrades Ensure high availability, performance, and security of the MQ infrastructure Monitor and troubleshoot MQ issues, collaborating with development teams to resolve problems Develop and implement MQ backup and recovery strategies Administer and maintain Kafka Infrastructure Provide technical expertise and support for MQ and Kafka applications Requirements: 5+ years of experience with WebSphere MQ (or equivalent messaging experience) Strong knowledge of MQ architecture, configuration, and administration Experience with Kafka Ideally, experience with AWS (e.g., MQ on AWS, AWS services integration) Ideally, experience with mainframe environments (e.g., z/OS, zMQ) Strong understanding of messaging concepts, protocols, and standards (e.g., AMQP, JMS) Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Unix shell, Perl, Python) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and collaboration skills Nice to Have: Experience with MQ on AWS or other cloud platforms Experience with mainframe environments (e.g., z/OS, zMQ) Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Ansible, Docker) Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, ELK) Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field Certifications (Bonus but not mandatory): IBM Certified MQ Administrator (or equivalent) AWS Certified Solutions Architect (or equivalent) Required Experience: 5-8 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of transferable experience demonstrating proficiency and experience in design, implementation, monitoring and troubleshooting technology Required Education: Related Bachelor's degree in an IT related field or relevant work experiencePosition is offered by a no fee agency. | |
