Overview

This is a remote role that may only be hired in the following locations: NC, PA, SC, FL, GA, or TX

This position is responsible for analyzing and documenting operational business processes to produce clear, accurate, and user-focused procedures, job aids, and other reference materials. This role exercises independent judgment to interpret business requirements, translate complex information into usable documentation, and ensure materials align with established documentation standards, internal controls, and operational expectations.

Supports General Bank Credit Operations by documenting moderately complex processes that may involve multiple steps, systems, or stakeholders. Documentation produced by this role supports day-to-day operations, training, and process consistency and may be used for internal reviews, quality assurance activities, or change initiatives. The role collaborates closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders to validate accuracy, resolve ambiguities, and ensure documentation reflects current-state processes.

Operates with autonomy within established standards and guidelines, determining appropriate documentation approaches, level of detail, and presentation for assigned work. While the role does not establish enterprise documentation strategy, it applies professional judgment to deliver high-quality documentation and contributes to continuous improvement of documentation practices.


Responsibilities

  • Process Documentation & Analysis - Analyze system changes and how those changes will impact business processes to determine documentation needs and appropriate formats, including procedures, job aids, and reference materials. Independently draft, revise, and maintain documentation for assigned operational processes of moderate complexity. Interpret business and technical information to produce clear, concise, and accurate documentation tailored to the intended audience.
  • Content Organization & Library Maintenance - Maintain and organize a document library so all materials are accurately labeled, version-controlled, and easily accessible to authorized associates.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration - Partner with subject matter experts and business leaders to capture current-state processes, validate accuracy, and incorporate feedback into updated materials. Ask probing questions and identify gaps or ambiguities in process understanding. Communicate documentation requirements, timelines, and expectations for assigned work.
  • Standards Application & Quality - Apply established documentation standards, templates, and style guidelines to ensure consistency and usability. Review documentation for accuracy, clarity, and alignment with operational requirements. Incorporate feedback from stakeholders and reviewers while exercising judgment to resolve inconsistencies or unclear input.
  • Continuous Improvement & Standards - Recommend enhancements to templates, style guides, and documentation processes. Share feedback or ideas to improve knowledge-sharing tools and overall document usability.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 1 years of experience in Technical Writing, Communications OR High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of experience in Technical Writing, Communications

Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree w/ Preferred Area of Study: English, Communications, Business Writing

Preferred Area of Experience:

Current or Previous experience as a contractor with First Citizens Bank or Experience in the banking industry with knowledge of business loan origination processes

Skills: Knowledge of operational processes, procedures, and job aid creation, Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word), Ability to translate complex processes into clear, concise language, Ability to edit and proofread for grammar, clarity, and consistency, Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities, Basic understanding of banking or financial services terminology
