The Opportunity

As SSR expands its surveying and field operations, we are seeking an experienced Equipment & Logistics Manager to lead the strategy, coordination, and management of all field technology, vehicles, tools, and assets across multiple offices and regions. This role ensures that every field and survey team has the right equipment-calibrated, maintained, and delivered-so they can execute projects safely, efficiently, and on time.

This leader will oversee the full lifecycle of SSR's field resources, from procurement and inventory management to vendor relationships, fleet operations, and technology deployment (e.g., drones, GPS units, scanning equipment, and boats).


Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership



  • Develop and manage the firmwide logistics, fleet, and equipment management strategy supporting surveying and field operations.
  • Oversee inventory, storage, maintenance, and availability of all surveying, scanning, and field support equipment across multiple offices.
  • Establish and enforce standardized equipment procedures, including check-in/out systems, calibration, servicing, and replacement cycles.
  • Implement and monitor firmwide fleet management practices for trucks, trailers, boats, and other vehicles, ensuring consistent practices and operational readiness.


Fleet & Asset Administration



  • Manage fleet and asset administration, including registration, titling, insurance coordination, fuel programs, GPS/telematics systems, and driver assignments
  • Maintain a complete asset inventory for all equipment, including location, assigned owner, value, condition, and replacement planning
  • Coordinate and schedule preventative maintenance, inspections, calibrations, repairs, and vendor servicing to minimize downtime
  • Serve as the primary owner of fleet and asset tracking systems and related operational tools


Procurement & Vendor Management



  • Partner with operational and financial leadership to forecast needs, manage budget, and procure, vehicles, equipment and field technology.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Negotiate pricing, warranties, and service contracts that optimize total cost of ownership and reliability.


Technology & Field Readiness



  • Oversee deployment, configuration, and training for field technology (including GPS, surveying, scanning, and drone equipment
  • Collaborate with IT and operations to support secure data transfer, device management, and software integrations
  • Support evaluation and adoption of new field technologies and tools


Safety, Compliance, & Training Deliver and track annual safety, driver, and equipment training.



  • Maintain safety, calibration, and inspection records for all field assets.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, FAA (for drone operations), and environmental regulations.
  • Develop and enforce fleet and equipment policies covering safe use, transport, and incident reporting.


Collaboration & Reporting



  • Work closely with multiple business units to forecast equipment needs across projects and locations.
  • Provide clear reporting on utilization, maintenance costs, and capital planning for field assets.
  • Support training and onboarding for field staff on proper use and care of equipment.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in operations management, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field-or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of experience managing large-scale logistics, fleet, or equipment programs across multiple sites or regions.
  • Proven success establishing systems for inventory control, procurement, and maintenance.
  • Experience with fleet management software, asset tracking systems, and vendor coordination.
  • Strong understanding of safety, DOT, and regulatory compliance.


Physical & Field Requirements



  • Requires the ability to perform essential job functions in both office and field environments.
  • Ability to travel to and work in field locations, including job sites, storage yards, and active survey or construction environments.
  • Ability to safely inspect, handle, move, load, and secure equipment and tools, including assisting with loading/unloading vehicles, trailers, and field equipment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull equipment and materials associated with field operations, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to climb in and out of vehicles, trailers, and boats; navigate uneven terrain; and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and perform hands-on inspections and manual tasks for extended periods while adhering to safety requirements.
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all safety policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications



  • Background in the AEC (architecture, engineering, construction) or surveying industry.
  • Familiarity with drones, GPS, scanning, or surveying equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategy and streamline processes across distributed teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
