What You Can Expect ENGIE North America is seeking a Controls Engineering Intern to support industrial control systems (ICS), automation platforms, and operational technology (OT) systems for the University of Iowa utility network. This on-site role at the Madison Street Services Building includes programming support, testing, troubleshooting, CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) updates in Maximo, networking tasks, and ICS security validation. You'll work closely with the Controls Engineering Team (CET) and collaborate with ICS security and Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) personnel. This position reports directly to the CET Manager. Work hours are flexible: up to 20 hours/week during academic semesters and up to 40 hours/week during breaks (Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-5 p.m.). No weekend or after-hours work is expected. This internship offers hands-on experience in controls engineering, industrial automation, ICS/OT operations, reliability engineering, and ICS cybersecurity. It is ideal for students interested in PLC/HMI (Programmable Logic Controller / Human-Machine Interface) programming, automated system design, industrial networking, reliability planning, CMMS workflows, and modern ICS/OT systems. Compensation Hourly Range: $22.50 - $32.00 USD hourly This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
