Your Job

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Systems Engineering Technician to support experimental testing and automation for datacom interconnect products. This role emphasizes executing and modifying shell scripts, leveraging GPT-based tools for scripting assistance, collecting and analyzing test data, and generating clear reports for engineering teams. The position also involves hands-on lab work, including basic tinkering, cable modifications, and soldering to support product development and debugging.

What You Will Do

  • Execute, modify, and maintain shell scripts to support system-level testing and automation.
  • Use GPT-based or AI-assisted tools to help develop, debug, and optimize shell scripts.
  • Run test sequences, collect measurement data, and verify data integrity.
  • Create clear and concise reports using PowerPoint and Excel, including plots, tables, and summaries.
  • Assist engineers with test setup, bring-up, and troubleshooting of datacom interconnect systems.
  • Perform basic hardware tinkering, cable rework, and soldering to support experiments.
  • Document procedures, scripts, and test results in an organized manner.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Technical/vocational degree, B.S. in Engineering (Electrical or computer engineering)
  • 2+ years of experience running and modifying shell scripts (Linux environment preferred).
  • 1+ years of experience with system-level testing or lab-based validation.
  • Experience using Excel for data analysis and PowerPoint for technical presentations.
  • Familiarity with basic electronics, measurement equipment, and lab tools.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and structured documentation practices.
  • Exposure to data com, high-speed interconnects, or signal integrity testing.
  • Experience with AI/GPT-assisted scripting workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with soldering, cable assembly, or prototype rework.
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset and attention to detail.

This role is part of the collective bargaining agreement and the starting pay for this role is set at $28-35 per hour.
