DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As the Digital Collections Library Intern, you will scan materials using an overhead or V-shaped book scanner, create appropriate digital files, object-specific metadata, and load items into the library's digital access platform. Interns will also have the opportunity to assist in other services areas of the State Library and may perform research related to their digitization activities.

  • Prepare materials for digitization
  • Scan materials using an overhead or book scanner as appropriate
  • Perform quality control on digital files
  • Create metadata records for scanned materials
  • Ingest metadata and digital assets in the Digital Asset Management System
  • Assist the Rare Collections staff with repair and curation of fragile materials
  • Perform reference service to patrons of the State Library Research digitization issues as necessary

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 10 week internship, approximately 15-20 hours per week
  • Work hours are flexible between the hours of 7:30 AM-5:00 PM, Tuesday thru Thursday with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Internship Requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's program.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must include a letter of Interest in the application.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
