Responsibilities

Are you looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the government? What if you could find a position that is tailor made to grow your development, systems engineering, project management, and communication skills? We are seeking motivated summer interns to support a range of technical, acquisition, and programmatic tasks in support of the Nuclear Sea Launched Cruise Missile program. Working under the guidance of experienced mentors, interns will contribute to real-world projects supporting the mission of our program with the customer while gaining valuable industry experience in a collaborative environment. Come work alongside our program team as we plan, develop, manage, and execute a collaborative project from concept generation, to acquisition and engineering, through capability delivery and customer presentations. You will develop your knowledge and ability with various engineering tools and leave Arcfield with an understanding of what a Systems Engineer role is like. Arcfield's intern program is designed to provide college students the opportunity to gain meaningful, hands-on work experience in a professional environment. Our goal is to build a roadmap that leads you to a long, rewarding and challenging career. Interns typically represent college students trying to gain related work experience while pursuing an undergraduate degree. Under direct supervision, you will perform various hands-on tasks and assignments for the organization's professional staff in such disciplines as project management, systems engineering, and MBSE tool utilization.

As an Arcfield Systems Engineering Intern, you will be deeply integrated into the engineering lifecycle. Over the course of the internship, you will:

  • Collaborate on Executive Deliverables: Partner directly with the Senior Engineers to author and refine technical artifacts, including system specifications, trade studies, and briefing packages for Navy leadership.

  • Execute a Signature Engineering Project: Beyond general exposure to the SP28 portfolio, you will be assigned a dedicated technical project to own from start to finish, culminating in a final presentation of your findings and solutions.

  • Shadow Subject Matter Experts (SMEs): Spend dedicated time shadowing Lead Engineers to observe the application of technical innovation in real-world scenarios, learning how to navigate complex maritime engineering hurdles.

  • Master Industry-Standard Toolsets: Gain hands-on proficiency with specialized systems engineering tools (such as DOORS, Model-Based Systems Engineering software, or CAD suites) used to maintain the integrity of strategic subsystems.

Internship Advantages:
1. Meaningful work related to national security
2. Primary channel for full-time, entry-level hires
3. Competitive pay
4. Opportunity for government security clearance
