Certification Info Become a Lifeguard What You'll Do: As a YMCA Lifeguard, you'll: Keep swimmers safe by enforcing pool rules and safety guidelines Stay rescue-ready and respond confidently to emergencies Monitor pool areas and assist with aquatic activities Assess swimmers' abilities to ensure a safe environment Participate in paid training and shadow shifts (For Swim Instructors) Teach fun, structured lessons using the YUSA curriculum Why Work for the Y: At the YMCA, you're more than just an employee-you're part of a community that is committed to making a difference.
