Department:ENPL | Entomology and Plant PathologyDepartment's Website: The successful candidate is expected to develop a robust, extramurally funded research program focused on managing and understanding plant pathogens that impact food or fiber crops of importance to Arkansas. Preferred areas of research specialization could include, but are not limited to epidemiology, population biology, etiology, remote sensing, diagnostics and methods of disease management. The incumbent will focus on pathogens and diseases in agricultural products of economic importance in Arkansas, such as soybeans, rice, corn, cotton, and other crops (e.g., peanuts, fruits, vegetables) where appropriate. However, research specialization is not limited to a specific commodity. The candidate is expected to demonstrate excellence in grantsmanship, report research results in peer-reviewed publications, present research at national and regional meetings, and teach graduate and undergraduate courses. They will be expected to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate level courses related to plant pathology. The candidate is expected to mentor graduate students, provide service to the institution and state as appropriate, and collaborate effectively with institutional research and extension faculty, and colleagues in related disciplines. The position is located at the University of Arkansas main campus in Fayetteville, located in the Ozark Mountains in northwest Arkansas. Fayetteville consistently ranks as one of the best college towns in the U.S. Qualifications: Minimum: A Ph.D. in plant pathology or a related field is required, with expertise in pathogens and diseases impacting crop plant systems. Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to conduct independent and collaborative research are required. Preferred: Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated ability to work effectively across disciplines in the fields of plant pathology, disease management, data analytics, and epidemiology. Postdoctoral experience in a land-grant institution is preferred.
