We're seeking an experienced and strategic communicator with a refined eye for enterpriselevel messaging and a strong understanding of corporate reputation management to support and advance Ingevity's external communications. This role helps shape how Ingevity shows up to the world through proactive media relations, issues and crisis communication, external reporting, investoraligned messaging and governance communications. The ideal candidate can translate business strategy into clear, compelling external messages, strengthen our visibility with priority stakeholders and reinforce confidence in Ingevity's direction.

As we approach our 10year anniversary and refresh the Ingevity brand and narrative, this role will be important in ensuring consistency across all external channels. This person will work closely with our Senior Manager of Marketing to maintain a cohesive brand presence and help deliver external communications that reflect our business priorities, performance and longterm strategy.

Key Responsibilities: External Communications Strategy
  • Develop and manage external communications plans that support enterprise messaging and brand positioning.
  • Help ensure consistency of brand voice and narrative across external channels in partnership with senior leaders.
Media Relations & External Content
  • Support media relations efforts and help manage the external editorial calendar.
  • Draft and edit press releases, feature stories and thought leadership content for priority audiences.
HighVisibility Communications
  • Assist with financial reporting, investor relations, sustainability and governance communications.
  • Support issues and crisis communications planning and execution with senior leadership.
Community Engagement
  • Manage Ingevity's engagement with community partners.
  • Coordinate strategic announcements and external speaking engagements.
Monitoring & Insights
  • Track media coverage and reputation metrics and provide insights to inform communications planning.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Marketing to align brand storytelling across external touchpoints.
  • Coordinate external graphic design resources for publications and campaigns.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in external communications, public relations or corporate affairs
  • Experience developing communications plans at the business-unit or enterprise level
  • Proven ability to craft compelling narratives for media, investors and community stakeholders
  • Strong project management and stakeholder collaboration skills
  • Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with media monitoring and reputationtracking tools
  • Ability to work crossfunctionally, including with senior leaders and external partners
  • Working Format: This role follows a hybrid schedule based at our North Charleston, SC headquarters.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a global or publicly traded company
  • Familiarity with financial reporting
  • Knowledge of media relations best practices
  • Experience supporting community relations or CSR initiatives
  • Understanding of digital and social communications
  • Ability to translate complex technical or financial content into accessible external messaging
