Position Summary:

The Head of GBS is a strategic leader responsible for executing the global GBS strategy, driving digital transformation, and ensuring efficient, high-quality service delivery across all regions and functions. This role oversees enterprise-wide process excellence, innovation, automation, and governance while leading a global Project Management Office (PMO) to enable execution of strategic initiatives and transformation programs. This role will be based at our global HQ in Deerfield, IL.

What you'll be doing:

Strategic Leadership & Transformation:

  • Define and implement the global GBS strategy in alignment with corporate priorities.

  • Drive digital transformation, automation, and continuous improvement across all service lines.

  • Champion standardization, innovation, and scalability in processes and service delivery.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to executives on shared services and enterprise transformation strategies.

Service Delivery & Performance Management:

  • Oversee global service delivery to ensure performance against SLAs, KPIs, and financial targets.

  • Embed a customer-centric, outcome-driven operating model.

  • Establish governance frameworks, accountability models (e.g., RACI), and dashboards to track value creation and performance.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory standards while proactively managing risks.

PMO Leadership & Governance:

  • Set the strategic direction for the GBS PMO, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals.

  • Establish project management standards, templates, and governance processes across the organization.

  • Lead portfolio management, including prioritization, resource allocation, progress tracking, and risk management.

  • Provide oversight and accountability for project delivery, ensuring alignment with business objectives and value realization.

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement through post-project reviews and lessons learned.

People & Culture:

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing global team, fostering collaboration, inclusion, and accountability.

  • Empower regional leaders to drive local performance and innovation.

  • Develop PMO and project management capabilities through comprehensive training and professional development.

Financial & Operational Excellence:

  • Manage GBS budgets, cost structures, and resource optimization.

  • Drive productivity, efficiency, and value realization through best practices and automation.

  • Develop business cases for transformation programs, tracking costs, synergies, and realized value across the enterprise.

What you'll bring:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, or related field (MBA preferred).

  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive leadership in global shared services or transformation.

  • Expertise: Deep understanding of GBS models, automation (RPA, AI), and digital transformation.

  • Expertise: Continuous improvement - Lean Six Sigma is a plus

  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead diverse, global teams and influence across a matrixed organization.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong performance management and value realization capabilities.

  • Communication: Excellent stakeholder engagement and executive communication skills.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $306,000 - 374,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, commission, and/or long-term incentive.
