Job Description Summary: The Internal Communications Specialist is responsible for developing and executing communication strategies that inform, engage, and inspire employees across the organization. This role ensures that internal messaging aligns with company values, supports business objectives, and fosters a positive and transparent workplace culture.

- Plan and execute internal communication strategies to support organizational goals, initiatives, and cultural priorities.
- Create and distribute clear, compelling content for internal channels, including e-newsletters (the Pulse and the Loop), intranet (Inside Blue KC), email messaging, digital signage, and employee events including quarterly All-Employee meetings.
- Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure consistent messaging and timely communication of key updates including crucial change management initiatives.
- Manage internal communication calendars and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
- Develop messaging for major initiatives such as organizational changes, new programs, and employee engagement campaigns.
- Monitor and measure communication effectiveness through analytics, feedback, and engagement metrics and adjust strategies as needed.
- Support crisis communication planning and execution when needed. Be proficient with programs used to notify employees with text messages, emails and other forms of communication as needed.
- Ability to quickly adapt and flex to unexpected situations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, another related field or relevant years' experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in communications, corporate communications, or related role
- Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills with the ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences.
- Strong understanding of communication channels and tools (email platforms, intranet, collaboration tools).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with measurement and analytics to assess communication impact.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Attention to detail must be a priority.
- Ability to work with executives and confidential information.
- Important to provide a high level of professional internal customer service.
- Experience in the health insurance industry or a related field.
