Position Summary: The Supervisor, Security is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the organization's physical security and property management/facilities functions to ensure the safety, security, and proper stewardship of facilities, employees, visitors, and assets. This role provides direct supervision to physical security personnel and designated property management employees, ensuring consistent application of policies, procedures, and operational standards.

Position Responsibilities



  • Manage third-party security vendor relations, related to physical control software/hardware solutions, to ensure products and services are delivered, install and operating per our requirements.
  • Supervise and coach employees on the property management/facilities team to include assigning daily work tasks, coordinating schedules and time off requests, coaching and counseling on performance issues, conducting performance reviews, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Work with internal departments to gather incident information and support requests.
  • Provide technical advice necessary for the implementation of Procedures, Guidelines, Post Orders & Training.
  • Assist with evaluating LCEC's needs for new or modified security systems and products to determine feasibility, time frames, and compatibility with current systems.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines that may affect physical security expectations at LCEC's offices, Service Centers, and Substations.
  • Design, plan, implement, assess, install, and manage access control systems, digital video surveillance systems, CCTV (Closed-circuit television), building security, building automation, and physical intrusion detection systems.
  • Assist with information and decision-making systems that encompass diverse technologies including unified management software, access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance, streaming video, data, voice, wireless, sensors, and door hardware.
  • Conduct facility design reviews for all new facilities and provide security related recommendations and management.
  • Perform detailed and technical analysis of available control systems and help integrate cyber security solutions. Help identify operational issues and implement design alterations to address issues.
  • Evaluates current equipment, policies, procedures, and guidelines for safety and security concerns and risks.
  • Collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety to identify, analyze, and develop mitigation strategies related to violence in the workplace, force protection, physical security, and continuity of operations technologies, principles, and standards to develop options to reduce risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Conduct periodic physical inspections, threat assessments, and risk analysis of all LCEC facilities.
  • Create and maintain employee and visitor systems (policy, badges and sign-in log) for all LCEC facilities.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with employees and customers at all levels within LCEC. Ensure smooth operations, productive communications, and effective understanding during all interpersonal contacts. Provide current and accurate information to all requesters, courteously and in a timely manner.
  • Support Storm Restoration efforts when needed. Work in emergency storm situations (i.e. hurricanes) and work long hours (>12 hours per day) for many continuous days/weeks as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Education



  • High School Diploma General Education or equivalent. (Required)
  • Bachelor's Degree Criminal Justice, Business Management, Information/Security Management or related. (Preferred)


Experience



  • 5+ years experience working with Electric Utility, Government, Corporate, Sheriff/Police or other similar entity. (Required)
  • 5+ years experience in implementation of security projects. (Required)
  • 5+ years of knowledge and experience using security systems, including technical equipment. (Required)


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint (Required)
  • Strong interpersonal skills. (Required)
  • Effective verbal and writing communication skills. (Required)
  • Proven ability to organize and prioritize work and to meet deadlines. (Required)


Licenses



  • Valid Florida Driver's License within 30 days of hire. (Required)

STORM DUTY REQUIREMENTS.... Responding to storms may be considered a condition of employment: LCEC provides critical services to our community during an emergency. Employees may be required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our LCEC members. Employees are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's guidelines and procedures.
