We have an exciting opportunity for a Fluids Engineering Analyst for Chemical Processes / Environmental Control Systems to join the team with Barrios, a teammate company.



Responsibilities

The Fluids Engineering Analyst will:

    Perform Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) calculations relating to life support and thermal fluids in complex geometries
  • Simulate and evaluate performance of life support systems for future NASA vehicles and habitats
    Correlate water and air process simulation models to test results
  • Model physical and chemical processes and size equipment performing life support functions for long duration space flights using CFD
  • Evaluate and refine requirements for chemical process equipment that will support future missions


Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2- 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Requires a minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or in a closely related area
  • Proficient with one of more of the following CFD software tools: Ansys Fluent, Star CCM+, or equivalent CFD software
  • Excellent technical writing skills including the ability to use data to draw conclusions with supporting rationale and make recommendations. Must be able support the conclusions when challenged
  • Excellent communication presentation, interpersonal, and collaborative skills

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Experience with the following software: Aspen, SINDA/Fluint, Thermal Desktop, FloCad
  • Experience with dynamic chemical process simulation
  • Capable of developing simulation models of air and water purification processes at varying levels of fidelity ranging from detailed, first-principle models to more descriptive lumped-parameter models
  • Programming knowledge in one or more of the following: MATLAB, Simulink, Python, FORTRAN, C, Visual Basic
  • Experience with chemical processes associated with NASA life support systems

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation

  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs

  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed
