Here's a great career development opportunity to work with talented and friendly engineers at IDEXX! As an Engineering Intern, you will work in a collaborative environment to support fullcycle product improvement projects by testing, evaluating, and implementing changes to our instruments. This role offers handson experience designing and executing experiments to understand the impact of electrical and mechanical changes, using statistics and design of experiments to validate improvements, and communicating results for review.

You will work across a deskbased engineering setting and an experimentation lab, gaining exposure to both technical development and the broader business context of product support.

In this role, you will:

  • Test and evaluate changes to IDEXX instruments, including modifying components to improve performance and minimize customer impact
  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments using design of experiments (DOE) to support validation and implementation of product changes
  • Assess feasibility of potential improvements and identify optimal operating conditions
  • Support improvements to electrical systems (such as redesigning electrical boards) or mechanical systems (such as pump systems) within IDEXX products
  • Use statistical methods and tools to analyze test results and assess impacts on performance and assay results
  • Work in a collaborative environment with business partners and subject matter experts in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, software, and assay science
  • Communicate technical findings clearly to support engineering and business decisionmaking

What you will need to succeed:

  • You are a 3rd or 4th year undergraduate student or a Master's student pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • You have a strong problemsolving mindset, take initiative, and enjoy experimentation, tinkering, and working with data
  • You can synthesize product, scientific, engineering, and business requirements into practical solutions
  • Experience using analytical or statistical tools such as JMP, Excel, Minitab, or similar software
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within crossfunctional teams

What you can expect from us:

  • Exposure to fullcycle product support projects, from problem identification through validation and implementation
  • A very friendly, supportive, and engaged engineering and science team that is eager to mentor, coach, and help you grow
  • Meaningful business exposure and insight into how engineering decisions impact customers and products
  • Opportunities for handson experimentation and problem solving for interns who take initiative
  • A 40hour per week position requiring an onsite presence typically 3-4 days per week, with schedule flexibility
  • Pay rate of $25/hr (dependent on skillset and experience)
  • Internship timeframe: June - August 2026
