What to Expect
The Drive Inverter team designs the power electronics that move Tesla's cars - quickly, efficiently, and reliably. Delivering hundreds of kilowatts of power from the battery to the motor, the drive inverter integrates high voltage power electronics, low voltage circuits, signal integrity, functional safety, and mechanical packaging. Electronic Design Engineers on the Drive Inverter team delivercomponentdesigns to ensure the system-level performance of the industry's highest production volume traction inverters.

What You'll Do
  • End-to-end ownership of invertercircuitdesigns including specifications, architecture, schematic capture, PCB layout, board bring up, validation, and overseeing reliability and functional testing

  • Design,develop, andvalidate electrical and communication systems, including the definition and validation of signal integrity and EMI/EMC requirements at bothcomponentand vehicle levels

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, firmware, and test engineering, to see products through high volume manufacturing

  • Debugcomponentinteractions at the inverter and vehicle level


What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • Digital and analog circuit design, including high voltage circuits or power supply design

  • Experience with circuit debugging and troubleshooting

  • Printed circuit board design (Altium) and initial bring-up: debugging, soldering, wiring, mechanical assembly

  • Familiarity with embedded firmware, microcontrollers and their peripherals, Python scripting or similar

  • Familiarity with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies

  • Switched-mode power supply (SMPS) and DC-DC converter design

  • Signal integrity, high-speed PCB layout, and noise mitigation techniques

  • Basic control theory, includingimportanceof sensor bandwidths, filtering

  • Automation of lab equipment (GPIB/SCPI/VISA)

    Expected Compensation
    $120,000 - $228,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
