The Medical Area Scientist plays a crucial role in shaping the medical strategy for our organization. This position involves providing expert medical advice and insights to support global clinical development and commercial efforts. The Medical Scientist collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including research, regulatory, and marketing, to ensure the successful development and launch of innovative products. This role is pivotal in maintaining our commitment to scientific excellence and patient-centric approaches within the competitive landscape of global healthcare.
This role can be in either Salt Lake City Utah, St. Louis Missouri or Durham North Carolina.
Primary Duties
- Strategic Medical Leadership: Develops and implements forward-thinking global medical strategies to support clinical development and commercialization, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and regulatory standards.
- Expert Guidance & Collaboration: Provides high-level medical expertise and insights to cross-functional teams, including R&D, regulatory affairs, and commercial department, influencing strategic decisions and product positioning.
- Global Coordination & Consistency: Collaborates with regional and global medical teams to harmonize medical communications, advocacy efforts, and scientific engagement, fostering consistency and excellence in execution.
- Innovation & Thought Leadership: Monitors emerging trends in medical science and healthcare policy, integrating insights into strategic planning to maintain a competitive edge in the industry.
- Perform all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience
- Master's Degree required in healthcare related field
- 5+ years of professional related experience in medical affairs, clinical development, or a related function:
- Experience in medical strategy development, including KOL (Key Opinion Leader) engagement, medical communication, and advisory boards
- Proven experience in generating and interpreting medical insights to shape product strategy
- Advanced degree such as Doctorate (MD, PharmD, or PhD) is highly preferred
- Additional post-doctorate training or professional certification in a specialized area is advantageous
- Strong knowledge of evidence based medicine methodologies
- Expertise in literature review techniques
- Familiarity with medical congresses, professional societies, and key scientific platforms
- Scientific writing and communication skills
- Ability to translate scientific insights into strategic medical plans.

- Ability to monitor, detect, and escalate product safety concerns
The estimated salary range for this role is between $110,000 and $145,000. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieux's bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate's experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.
