Where You'll Work:

The Y12 National Security Complex located in Oak Ridge, TN, plays a vital role in the U.S. Department of Energy's Nuclear Security Enterprise. Y-12 provides manufacturing, technical, and scientific expertise to produce components, subassemblies, and quality evaluations to sustain a U.S. nuclear deterrent; reduce the threat from weapons of mass destruction; supply nuclear material to the Naval Reactors Program; and provide solutions to other emerging national security challenges. Y-12 has developed state-of-the-art capabilities in three core areas: nuclear technology and materials, security and consequence management, and manufacturing and technical services. Y-12 lends its specialized expertise to other federal agencies, such as the U.S. Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, state and local governments, and private-sector companies. Projects at Y-12 include providing protective equipment to soldiers in combat, training National Guard units for radiological emergencies, and creating machining platforms that improve production and efficiency.

About the Role:

System Engineering requires an Electrical Engineer possessing a strong background in operating facility and/or site power distribution.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate a strong understanding of electrical power distribution systems within an operating facility and/or site.
• Confront situations and troubleshoot why things are going wrong is essential.
• Display exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Maintain Configuration Management of Electrical related documentation.
• Observe operation of installation for conformance with operational standards.
• Coordinate operation and maintenance activities to ensure optimum utilization of power system facilities.
• Work with Design Engineering to prepare drawings and/or specifications for maintenance of existing or new installations of electrical equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program and a minimum of 20 years direct experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Successful drug screening.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
• Requires a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.

Location/Work Arrangement:

• This position is a fully onsite position at the Y12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
