Responsibilities

Position Overview

Orion/Arcfield is seeking an experienced On-Call Electro-Optical Calibration & Lab Support Specialist to provide subject matter expertise supporting the setup of laboratory spaces, equipment, and calibration engineering activities for electro-optical payload assembly, integration, test, and calibration efforts.

This role operates within a collaborative Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment composed of Orion/Arcfield personnel and subcontractor partners. The ideal candidate brings deep technical knowledge in electro-optical systems and calibration methodologies and can provide support on an as-needed basis during critical program phases.

Key Responsibilities

The selected individual will provide technical support in multiple areas, including but not limited to:

  • Provide subject matter expertise in the setup and configuration of laboratory environments and equipment used for electro-optical payload assembly, integration, testing, and calibration.

  • Support planning and execution of optical alignment and calibration activities.

  • Review and provide technical feedback on electro-optical payload calibration plans, processes, and procedures.

  • Review and provide technical insight into radiometric model development, analysis, and performance validation.

  • Assist in evaluating calibration approaches to ensure alignment with system performance requirements.

  • Contribute to the development and refinement of engineering and programmatic documentation related to calibration and test activities.

  • Collaborate closely with engineers, technicians, and program staff in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment.

  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with program quality standards, technical requirements, and safety protocols.


Qualifications

  • HS 5-6 Years
  • Demonstrated experience with electro-optical systems, including calibration, alignment, and performance verification

  • Strong understanding of radiometric principles and modeling for electro-optical payloads

  • Experience reviewing or developing calibration plans, test procedures, and technical documentation

  • Hands-on familiarity with laboratory or integration & test environments

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and system performance requirements

  • Strong communication skills and ability to provide constructive technical feedback within a team environment

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multi-organization IPT setting
