Position Overview
Orion/Arcfield is seeking an experienced On-Call Electro-Optical Calibration & Lab Support Specialist to provide subject matter expertise supporting the setup of laboratory spaces, equipment, and calibration engineering activities for electro-optical payload assembly, integration, test, and calibration efforts. This role operates within a collaborative Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment composed of Orion/Arcfield personnel and subcontractor partners. The ideal candidate brings deep technical knowledge in electro-optical systems and calibration methodologies and can provide support on an as-needed basis during critical program phases.
Key Responsibilities
The selected individual will provide technical support in multiple areas, including but not limited to:
Provide subject matter expertise in the setup and configuration of laboratory environments and equipment used for electro-optical payload assembly, integration, testing, and calibration. Support planning and execution of optical alignment and calibration activities. Review and provide technical feedback on electro-optical payload calibration plans, processes, and procedures. Review and provide technical insight into radiometric model development, analysis, and performance validation. Assist in evaluating calibration approaches to ensure alignment with system performance requirements. Contribute to the development and refinement of engineering and programmatic documentation related to calibration and test activities. Collaborate closely with engineers, technicians, and program staff in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment. Ensure work is performed in accordance with program quality standards, technical requirements, and safety protocols.
Qualifications
- HS 5-6 Years
Demonstrated experience with electro-optical systems, including calibration, alignment, and performance verification Strong understanding of radiometric principles and modeling for electro-optical payloads Experience reviewing or developing calibration plans, test procedures, and technical documentation Hands-on familiarity with laboratory or integration & test environments Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and system performance requirements Strong communication skills and ability to provide constructive technical feedback within a team environment Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multi-organization IPT setting
