Job Description
The Marketing Representative works with residential customers, builders, and developers to add new customers to the SEMCO system. This position is also responsible for identifying, communicating, and marketing to potential customers in an effort to convert them to natural gas.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Implements the following residential programs: On-main potential database and campaign to convert customers; builder programs, main extension programs, customer attachment programs (CAP).
  • Conducts analysis to identify market potential and implements strategies to meet departmental goals.
  • Implements and communicates to potential customers residential connection pricing and processes.
  • Identifies builders, developers, and potential customers and communicates to them the benefits of connecting to natural gas.
  • Actively looks for new growth opportunities and new potential customers to connect to SEMCO's distribution system.
  • Periodically works home shows or other community events to represent the SEMCO.
  • Monitors and tracks status of residential programs by utilizing the on-main database, construction database, Enquesta, and other company systems.
  • Professionally promotes and represents SEMCO within the community.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.
  • Provides regular reports to the Marketing Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Communications or related field is preferred.
  • Two years of work related experience in sales or marketing.
  • Demonstrates excellent sales and customer service skills.
  • General knowledge of gas distribution operations and customer addition programs.
  • Working knowledge of various personal computer business software applications presently used by the company.
  • Ability to work flexible hours if necessary to meet project and community representation requirements.

Skill Requirements:

  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, an ability to efficiently process service applications, and an ability to coordinate projects across various SEMCO departments.

Other Requirements:

  • Must maintain a positive work atmosphere through effective interactions and communications with co-workers, customers, and management.
  • Must maintain a safe environment for co-workers, customers, and the public through adherence to established safety standards and timely reporting of potential hazards.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in both field and standard office environments.
  • Field work includes interior and exterior work locations that involve walking, bending and stooping, hazardous environments requiring personal protective equipment and some physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, and noise.
  • Office work involves sitting at a desk and operating personal computer equipment for extended periods of time. Duties may also involve occasional bending, stooping and lifting of up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
  • Travel to various worksites is required, depending on assignment.

We offer a competitive salary range of $69,000 to $100,200 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
