This position is responsible for supporting internal business intelligence, metrics, reporting, and modeling of data to support the organization.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include, but are not limited to:
  • Builds relationships with key business stakeholders, defining KPIs and metrics supporting the business.
  • Collaborates with all departments to ensure relevant data is available for business intelligence needs.
  • Contributes to data aggregation strategy for reporting, dashboards, and self-service analytics.
  • Gains in-depth understanding of data models for internal systems.
  • Gathers business intelligence, reporting, and analytics requirements from stakeholders.
  • Performs data analysis using Business Intelligence and Enterprise tools.
  • Supports ad-hoc data queries and data analysis and presents results to all levels of management.
  • Works with business, finance, and operations teams to create unified data models in support of business initiatives.
  • Works with partners and/or clients defining new solutions or integrations with a focus on improving workflows.
  • Acts as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the N3B chemical inventory database/tracking system and as the liaison with Los Alamos National Laboratory (TRIAD) for submittals of required periodic chemical inventory updates. Supports N3B safety and health personnel in training and field implementation efforts associated with the chemical inventory database.
  • Acts as an SME for the N3B Comprehensive Tracking System database used to store industrial hygiene and safety data, and as the liaison with the CTS software provider.
  • Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Level 4: A Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or a closely related field with at least nine (9) years of related experience. However, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the position's duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable.
  • Level 5: A Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or a closely related field with at least twelve (12) years of related experience. However, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the position's duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable.
  • Experience in the use of financial modeling methods and techniques in support of business objectives.
  • Experience in the use of statistical modeling
  • Experience in the use and implementation of safety and health databases with specific application to qualitative and quantitative industrial hygiene exposure assessments, and the collection and tracking of data associated with safety and health program (e.g. respiratory protection, confined space entry equipment management, etc.)
  • Experience working to deadlines.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, & ABILITY:

LEVEL 4:

  • Intermediate knowledge of diverse database technologies (MSSQL, MySQL, Hadoop, MongoDB, Oracle, InfluxDB, etc).
  • Skill in Microsoft Office Excel (PowerQuery, PowerPivot) and Data Reporting Tools (SSRS, Business Objects, Crystal Reports, BrightGuage, etc).
  • Intermediate knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, including an extensive understanding of chemical management principles and requirements.
  • Skill in organization, time management, attention to detail, and analytics, with the ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Skill in the use of Business Intelligence Tools (Domo, Tableau, PowerBI, Qlikview, etc).
  • Skill in the use of multiple data formats (Excel, SQL, CSV, JSON, XML, etc).
  • Skill with REST, SOAP, OAuth, and other data integration technologies.
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to produce business insights that impact business outcomes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within and across multiple organizations.

LEVEL 5:

BUSINESS ASSOCIATION:

LEVEL 4: Serves as consultant to management and special external spokesperson for the organization on major matters pertaining to its policies, plans, and objectives.

LEVEL 5: Serves as prime consultant and external spokesperson for the organization on highly significant matters relating to policies, programs, capabilities, and long- range goals and objectives.

IMPACT:

LEVEL 4: Effects of decisions are long-lasting and heavily influence the future course of the organization. Errors in judgment or failure to achieve results would result in the expenditure of large amounts of company resources.

LEVEL 5: Decisions affect the financial, employee, or public relations posture of the organization. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in failure to achieve goals critical to the major objectives of the organization.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREME NTS:

  • Individuals must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • This position works in an office environment with low noise level due mostly to office equipment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, stand, and occasionally climb or balance, squat, stoop, twist, turn, push, pull, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms.
  • This position frequently must lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and infrequently must lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing requirements include ability to listen and respond appropriately to conversations in person, virtually, and over the phone.
  • Only electrical hazards and other minor potential hazards normally found in an office environment are anticipated.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Maintains required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; make safety, security and quality an integral part of every task; including stopping work if job is unsafe or compromises security.
  • Must obtain an L level Department of Energy security clearance.
  • This position will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner to include protecting the confidentiality and integrity of Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
