Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Outside Plant (OSP) Fiber Optic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of hands-on experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance within outside plant environments. A strong understanding of fiber optic theory and in-depth knowledge of fiber optic test and verification equipment is essential.

    Performing fiber optic cable installation, splicing, terminations, and testing in aerial, underground and Data Center environments
  • Operating, maintaining, and interpreting results from optical test equipment including OTDRs, light source/power meters, and fiber inspection scopes
  • Conducting site surveys, document field conditions, and providing input for design and engineering teams
  • Interpreting and working from engineering prints, schematics, and splice diagrams
  • Troubleshooting fiber optic systems and perform emergency restoration work when necessary
  • Maintaining detailed records of work performed, including test results and cable routing
  • Ensuring compliance with safety protocols and industry standards
  • Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and other field personnel to ensure timely completion of work

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience with fiber optic environments
  • Secret clearance but able to obtain Top Secret
  • Knowledge of fiber optic theory, including attenuation, dispersion, connector types, and fiber types (SM/MM)
  • Must be able to splice Single and Ribbon fiber, splice on connectors
  • Ability to lift, carry, move 50 lbs
  • Willing to work evenings when required


Desired Skills

  • Experience with GIS mapping or fiber management software
  • Knowledge of construction permitting and right-of-way procedures
  • Experience working in federal or secure environments


Clearance Information

SRC IS A CONTRACTOR FOR THE U.S. GOVERNMENT, THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE U.S. CITIZENSHIP AS WELL AS, A U.S. GOVERNMENT SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE SECRET LEVEL WITH TOP SECRET / SCI ELIGIBILITY

  • 50-75% of the year
