Join our team at American Commercial Barge Line (ACBL) as the Head of Grain Commercial Strategy, where you will serve as the primary strategic leader for ACBL's grain business. In this role, you will own the long-term commercial strategy, market positioning, and performance of ACBL's bulk grain portfolio, term commercial strategy, market positioning, and performance of ACBL's bulk grain portfolio.

This role partners closely with Operations, Planning, Finance, and Executive Leadership to align market insight, customer strategy, and asset deployment. This position is ideal for a senior grain or agricultural commodities leader who brings deep bulk grain experience and a strategic, enterprise level mindset.

What you will be doing... Your IMPACT



  • Serve as the strategic owner of ACBL's bulk grain business, defining long-term commercial direction and priorities
  • Lead grain commercial strategy across pricing frameworks, contract structures, and customer engagement models
  • Drive commercial performance of the grain portfolio, including revenue growth, margin discipline, and customer mix optimization
  • Act as the senior relationship lead for ACBL's most significant grain customers and strategic partners
  • Translate grain market fundamentals (crop cycles, export demand, seasonality, freight dynamics) into actionable commercial strategy
  • Partner closely with Operations and Planning to align capacity deployment and service execution with demand forecasts
  • Identify new lanes, partnerships, and growth opportunities across the agricultural value chain
  • Provide executive level insight to leadership on grain market trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Support and develop commercial talent aligned to the grain business
  • Perform all other duties as assigned


What we are looking for...

You will need to have:



  • Bachelor's degree in business, agriculture, supply chain, logistics, or a related field
  • Significant experience in bulk grain or agricultural commodities, with exposure to largescale, high-volume movements
  • Proven leadership in a commercial, market, trading, merchandising, origination, or strategy role
  • Strong understanding of grain supply chains
  • Ability to operate at the strategic and executive level, influencing outcomes across functions
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with executive level presence
  • Willingness to travel as required to support customers and operations

  • Experience working within transportation, logistics, or integrated agribusiness organizations
  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise level commercial or market strategies
