This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
We are seeking a dynamic Manufacturing Engineer to join our Operations team at Blue Origin. This role will lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems, ensure stringent quality control throughout production, and optimize supply chain logistics specific to Production/Operations. The ideal candidate will be results-driven, skilled in resource management, and committed to high-quality standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance production timelines. Leveraging advanced technologies and methodologies, you will contribute to improving manufacturing techniques, ensuring Blue Origin's continued innovation and excellence in aerospace engineering.
Position Specific Details:
Shift: A | Mon-Fri (6am-2:30pm) Location: Space Coast, FL Relocation: Available Potential travel up to 10% of the time for training and other support activities.
Support the industrialization of new products in areas such as solar arrays, integration and test, avionics, and structures. Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), design for test (DFT), key to building reliable vehicles for space exploration. Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes that support Blue Origin's mission. Collaborate closely with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate building a road to space. Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans. Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (e.g., composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly). Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances; develop and implement corrective actions that enhance reliability and performance. Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001), supporting a safe and sustainable future in space. Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment. Identify and complete opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction, optimizing our ability to achieve our mission at scale. Gain expertise in at least one key specialty area (solar arrays, integration and test, build flow/sequencing, avionics, structures, etc.), with the desire to deepen expertise and broaden impact.

Lunar Mission Operations plays a crucial role in the successful deployment and operation of the Transporter vehicle. As a key component of our mission, Lunar Ops ensures that the Transporter vehicle is not only developed and assembled to the highest standards but also thoroughly tested and prepared for its lunar journey. This division collaborates closely with engineering, quality assurance, and logistics teams to guarantee that Transporter vehicle meets all mission requirements and performs flawlessly in the challenging lunar environment. Their expertise and dedication are instrumental in making the Transporter vehicle a pioneering success and a cornerstone for future lunar exploration initiatives.
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role Experience creating English work instructions - Must be able to work second shift and have flexibility to move shifts as needed. Open to work extended hours if required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in a relevant engineering field Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification. Familiarity with quality and safety standards, such as AS9100 and ISO 9001. Manufacturing engineering experience with design, production, and assembly in high-reliability industries such as propulsion, aircraft, spacecraft, oil & gas, automotive, naval, nuclear, or heavy equipment. Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and application to propulsion and fluid systems. Experience with cryogenic fluids and oxygen compatibility, including hands-on work with propulsion or fluid system hardware. Knowledge of aerospace materials, treatments, and manufacturing processes applicable to propulsion and gas systems. Experience with production quality management systems and transitioning products from development to production, including participation in New Product Introduction (NPI) activities. Experience in the assembly, integration, and troubleshooting of aerospace vehicles and subsystems, including tubing, harnesses, avionics, structures, tanks, fluid systems, and electrical components for launch vehicles and aircraft. Familiarity with fabrication processes such as machining, welding, composites, and assembly, as well as experience designing, building, commissioning, and troubleshooting tooling and fixtures-including jigs, molds, automated tooling, and test fixtures-for manufacturing, assembly, and testing of fluid, propulsion, or structural components. Experience with manufacturing automation, digital work instructions, and advanced metrology (e.g., CMM, laser scanning). Familiarity with common Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods (visual, dye penetrant, ultrasound, X-ray, CT scan, eddy current, and XRF), particularly as applied to propulsion, fluid, or structural hardware. Strong foundation in Design for Manufacturability/Assembly (DFM/DFA) and manufacturing process development for integrated assemblies, including propulsion and fluid system components. Proficiency with CAD software (NX, CATIA, Creo, SolidWorks) and PLM/MRP systems (Teamcenter, Windchill, etc.). Experience working with Bill of Materials (BOM) structures and reconciliation for complex assemblies.
