This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Project Engineer to join our Launch Infrastructure Development team. In this leadership role, you will provide advanced civil engineering expertise and technical oversight for the development and construction of Blue Origin's launch facilities and ground systems. You will guide project teams, make critical engineering decisions, and ensure civil infrastructure elements meet Blue Origin's exacting standards while supporting operational requirements for our next-generation launch capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the technical authority for civil engineering aspects of launch infrastructure development
  • Lead civil engineering design reviews and provide expert guidance to ensure constructability and operational functionality
  • Develop technical solutions for complex civil engineering challenges specific to launch facilities
  • Direct the resolution of critical field issues, ensuring technical integrity while maintaining schedule and budget
  • Oversee contractor performance on civil scope elements and evaluate technical submittals and modifications
  • Provide senior-level coordination with regulatory agencies on permitting, environmental compliance, and code requirements
  • Lead site development planning including complete civil infrastructure integration with facility systems
  • Develop and implement technical standards for launch facility civil works
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across multiple projects
  • Present civil engineering status, risks, and mitigation plans to senior leadership
  • Evaluate new technologies and methods for improving launch infrastructure civil systems

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master's preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • 10+ years of civil engineering experience with at least 5 years in infrastructure development
  • Demonstrated expertise in site development, drainage systems, and utilities for complex facilities
  • Experience leading civil engineering aspects of large-scale construction projects
  • Advanced knowledge of civil engineering standards, specifications, and construction methods
  • Proven ability to solve complex field engineering challenges with innovative solutions
  • Experience managing contractor relationships and overseeing civil construction quality
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to influence technical decisions
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience mentoring engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in aerospace, industrial, or defense infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of specialized launch facility requirements and their civil engineering implications
  • Background in coastal engineering and Florida-specific environmental regulations
  • Experience with design-build project delivery methods
  • Advanced proficiency with civil engineering software including civil 3D, hydraulic modeling tools
  • Understanding of unique requirements for cryogenic systems infrastructure and foundations
  • Experience coordinating with government agencies including NASA, Space Force, or similar
  • Background in construction management or construction engineering

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to access all areas of active construction sites
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Stand, walk, and navigate uneven terrain for extended periods
  • Climb ladders and work at heights when necessary
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
