The role of the Purchasing Clerk is to ensure that items are accurately received and stored, while maintaining accuracy of MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Operations) inventory. Generate accurate detailed Purchase Orders and price comparisons to achieve best cost and shortest lead-times on parts and supplies. In addition to maintenance stockroom responsibilities, the individual will provide dependable service to the operations and maintenance organizations.



PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:



Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.



Ability to work with minimal supervision and self-motivation is a must.



Interact with the suppliers on a day-to-day basis.



Review deliveries against the orders.



Track the status of any orders.



Deal with non-supplied, under orders, over orders and damaged goods.



Ensure that all PO's and Receivers are sent to accounting.



Produce and maintain all reports.



Manage any procurement activities including RFP's (Request for Proposals).



Utilize and establish Bar code system to maintain an accurate inventory.



Keep accurate records to drive continuous improvement in all aspects of maintenance including materials management, PMs, backlog, etc.



Responsible for maintaining and organizing the stockroom, verifying inventory counts, locating and properly labeling items within the stockroom.



Responsible for periodic cycle counts of MRO inventory.



Ensures parts are issued properly, and perpetual inventory is maintained.



Properly stores materials in predetermined stockroom location.



Valid driver's license/ Maintain a current lift truck operators' license.



Perform other functions as directed by the Maintenance Team or Management.



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



High School Diploma or equivalent.



Must have basic computer skills and be proficient with PC applications.



Good interpersonal and written skills, strong organizational skills.



Strong analytical and decision-making skills.



Demonstrated commitment to safe working practices.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



Technical school, course work or degree



2+ years' experience working as a maintenance buyer and/or stockroom clerk in a fast-paced production facility.



Additional training in related fields / equipment.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:



Working knowledge of PC applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook, AS400 DOS Platform.



Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle numerous details, deadlines and requests.



Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Ability to exhibit critical thinking.



Good communication and interpersonal skills.



Excellent attention to detail.



Able to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS




  • Starting salary for position:$22.00 to 26.00 per hour depending on experience.
  • Bonus: Annual - Based upon achievement of plant performance metrics.
  • Paid Vacation: 2 weeks per calendar year. Pro-rata Vacation during the initial year of hire based upon start date within the calendar year.
