ENERGY SYSTEMS GROUP is looking for a Director Operations to join our Public Sector Central team. The candidate should reside in Tennessee, Indiana, Illinois, or Missouri and be located by a major airport. Frequent travel of 50% - 75% or more, including overnight stays is required.

The Director Operations has oversight and leads all aspects of project execution, ensuring a smooth transition from design phase to the installation and on-going service and support phase of the completed project. This includes ensuring that a member of the Operations team is involved in the development processes, reviewing constructability matters and estimates. Manages all aspects of the regional project finances including change management, revenue projects, personnel, and external contractors, and subcontractors, customer agents to coordinate all aspects of project installation and risk management and mitigation. Ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and that customers are satisfied with both the installation process and the end result.

The essential functions of the position include:



  • Provide the Vice President with accurate and timely reporting on finances, forecasts, and project related metrics
  • Oversee all regional operations personnel and projects in construction
  • Coordinate with development teams to provide constructability assessments, budget development, and estimate review
  • Work closely with the Vice President on all aspects of the delivery team and provide information as necessary and as requested to ensure our delivery teams are providing the best service possible to the customer and to ESG as a whole
  • Review and approve quarterly Project Delivery Affidavits which list documents and records used to recognize revenue with customer billings
  • Review and approve EACs as applicable
  • Create and maintain an efficient, effective project workforce and provide training and supervision for each member of his/her team
  • Ensure every member of the operations team adheres to OSHA, Federal, State, and safety regulations as well as all ESG policies and procedures
  • Provide oversite for all project costs and work with accounting and finance departments to ensure accurate customer billing


Your background includes:



  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Fifteen (15) or more years of construction or major mechanical construction including major infrastructure and space modernization
  • Minimum of five (5) years' management of direct reports
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
