OVERVIEW The function of the Packaging Supervisor is to direct sugar packaging production on rotating shift. You will direct teams of specialized union employees ensuring Good Manufacturing Practices and safe operating procedures. Meet or exceed production targets, quality standards, maintain and regulatory compliance through the supervision of hourly personnel on rotating shifts. This role requires a leader who is comfortable spending most of their time on the production floor, engaging with our employees identifying and solving problems. PRODUCTION / EMPLOYEE LEADERSHIP:
- Coordinate and supervise daily production activities to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets
- Monitor production performance for assigned areas and address issues in real time
- Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining OEE and waste targets
- Conduct daily huddle meetings and communicate priorities within departments
- Manage employee performance, attendance, overtime coverage, and disciplinary actions as required
- Follow Standard Work to achieve production result through employee leadership in a unionized environment
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts regular shift meetings regarding safety, production, quality and other important information.
- Conducts training, monitoring and evaluating employee performance and implementing recommendations to improve employee performance.
- Analyzes production requirements to estimate worker hours and create production schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
- Ensures quality of finished products by adhering to company policies, procedures and specifications, making corrections to produce a safe quality-final product. Participate in quality investigations as necessary and identify corrective actions
- Coordinates flow of materials into and out of the production areas for distribution in accordance with production schedule
- Conducts safety audits and ensuring that all safety requirements are met
- Provides guidance to workers in adjusting, repairing, and maintaining machines and equipment to optimize production
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules
- Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Ensures all required documentation for production, quality, and safety is completed and delivered in accordance with department and company requirements.
- Ensures equipment is operating properly & efficiently. Liaise with the Maintenance Team by reporting defects and downtime and assist with root cause analysis.
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT:
- Lead and support Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen initiatives to improve Operating Efficiency - OEE
- Identify waste reduction and throughput improvement opportunities
- Participate in root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Whys, Problem Cause Solution (PCS), A3 problem solving, and Fishbone diagrams
- Effectively leverage performance systems, such as RedZone, to implement corrective and preventive actions to sustain improvements
WORK EXPERIENCES:

- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation

- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices is required
- Minimum of 3-years experience in an industrial food manufacturing/production environment supervising shift employees
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 4-year Degree in Industrial/Electrical/Sciences/Technical area preferred
- Continuous Improvement or quality certification(s) strongly preferred
- Industrial electric background, computer, PLC programming, mechanical troubleshooting preferred
LOCATION OF ROLE:
SALARY RANGE: $68,000-$126,000
- The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on the candidate's qualifications and prior experience.
