Mechanical Engineer - Liquid Cooling Systems (OnSite Role) Contract \| Onsite \| Competitive Pay (up to $75/hr) Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with deep expertise in liquidcooling systems, diagnostics, and telemetrydriven monitoring for highdensity compute environments. This role is onsite at a major datacenter facility and requires handson engagement with mechanical and cooling systems to ensure reliability, performance, and operational excellence. Some travel may be required for crosssite alignment. Travel outside a 75mile roundtrip commute is reimbursable. What You'll Do As the mechanical engineering lead for liquidcooling diagnostics and monitoring, you will: Core Responsibilities * Lead detection, monitoring, alarm triage, and fault isolation for liquidcooling systems, including CDUs, HRUs, and racklevel cooling loops. * Respond to alarms and diagnose root causes using telemetry, logs, and system behavior. * Perform onsite validation of telemetry, dashboards, and faultdetection logic. * Identify and resolve gaps in telemetry completeness and accuracy. * Analyze system trends to detect degradation early and recommend corrective action. * Partner closely with mechanical, electrical, and siteservices teams to ensure smooth operational alignment. * Define requirements for dashboards, KPIs, alerts, and monitoring tools. * Work with developers and project managers to translate realworld system behavior into telemetrydriven detection logic. * Provide consistent weekly updates outlining findings, risks, and improvements. * Support ongoing efforts to enhance reliability, uptime, thermal performance, redundancy, and energy efficiency. Top Required Skills 1. Liquid Cooling Systems Expertise (3+ years) * Handson experience with CDUs, HRUs, directtochip cooling, racks, and fluidcooling loops. * Strong ability to assess cooling performance through flow, temperature, and pressure behavior. 2. Telemetry Interpretation & Fault Diagnostics (3+ years) * Skilled at rootcause analysis using sensor data, logs, alarms, and telemetry streams. * Able to detect early performance degradation using trend analysis and system correlations. 3. MissionCritical Mechanical Engineering (8+ years) * Experience in data centers, HPC facilities, or mechanically intensive environments. * Deep understanding of mechanical, thermal, and facilities engineering for highavailability systems. Strong communication skills are essential to support daily interaction with onsite engineering teams. What Success Looks Like * Liquidcooling systems operate with minimal downtime and zero customer impact. * Dashboards and telemetry signals deliver fast and accurate diagnostics. * Strong relationships formed with onsite engineering teams. * Early detection of mechanical or thermal degradations before operational disruption. * Reliable translation of physical system behavior into monitoring logic and alerting requirements. * Continual improvement in system reliability, efficiency, and monitoring capability. What we are looking for * Deep handson expertise in liquid cooling within missioncritical environments. * Exceptional diagnostic instincts and the ability to tie realworld system behavior to telemetry. * Strong collaboration across technical and operational teams. * Ability to define, validate, and continuously refine detection logic and KPIs. * Proactive mindset toward risk identification and system improvement. * Clear, consistent communication. * General mechanical engineering experience but limited exposure to liquid cooling. * Follows existing processes but struggles to define improvements. * Needs guidance to spot telemetry gaps or degradation patterns. * Collaborates well but doesn't build deep crossteam technical trust. * Relies heavily on documented procedures rather than independent diagnostic judgment.
