*Description*
* Under general supervision, responsible for educating patients on insurance coverage and benefits. * Assesses patients' financial ability and provides education on available financial assistance programs. * Updates and maintains patient insurance eligibility, coverage, and benefits in the system. * Supports and adheres to the Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics, Business Standards, and Shared Values. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: * Prior to treatment, obtain patient insurance coverage information and demographics. * Educate patients on insurance coverage, benefits, copays, deductibles, and outofpocket expenses. * Assess patients' ability to meet expenses and discuss payment arrangements as needed. * Educate patients on financial assistance programs and assist with completing required forms. * Based on diagnosis, insurance coverage, and financial assistance options, complete the Patient Cost Estimate form. * Complete required reimbursement and liability forms for patient review and signature. * Forward all appropriate information and forms to the billing office. * Obtain insurance preauthorization or referral approval codes from the Clinical Reviewer prior to each treatment. * Review patient account balances and notify the front desk of patients who need financial consultation. * Ensure patient copay amounts are accurately entered into the system or communicated to the front desk for correct collection. * At each patient visit, verify and update demographics and insurance coverage according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). * Stay current on available financial aid resources. * Develop and maintain professional relationships with financial assistance providers. * Network with financial aid organizations to identify additional support programs. * Adhere to confidentiality requirements and all state, federal, and HIPAA guidelines regarding patient records. * Maintain updated manuals, logs, forms, and related documentation. * Perform additional duties as requested. * Other duties as assigned. *Skills* Patient Benefits, insurance verification, medical, Healthcare, Emr *Top Skills Details* Patient Benefits,insurance verification,medical,Healthcare *Additional Skills & Qualifications* MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum three (3) years patient pre-services coordinator or equivalent required. Proficiency with computer systems and MicroSoft Office (Word and Excel) required. -Demonstrate knowledge of CPT coding and HCPS coding application. -Must be able to verbally communicate clearly and utilize the appropriate and correct terminology. -Must successfully complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of occupying position. *Experience Level* Intermediate Level *Job Type & Location*This is a Contract position based out of Annapolis, MD. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
