What You Will Be Doing

As a member of an international team of experts, you will work with US, EU, and UK-based design teams to guide the regulatory aspects of the design, test, and certification of ChargePoint's next-generation AC and DC electric vehicle charging equipment that also incorporates vehicle energy export functions, energy management, and renewable energy integration.



  • Inform product design, test, and certification teams of AC and DC safety requirements originating from relevant standards as applicable and create supporting documentation, design guidelines, etc
  • Understanding North American and EU Electrical safety standards for Electric Vehicle Charging or other related standards such as UL2202, UL 2594, UL 62368, UL 2231, UL 1741, UL 9741, UL9540, UL840, IEC 61851-1, -22, -23, IEC 62196, IEC 60664, IEC 62477, or similar related standards
  • Participate in the creation of test plans to validate that safety designs meet the requirements and build confidence for successful 3rd-party certification on the first iteration
  • Perform safety tests & support prototype debugging and onsite certification witness testing
  • Obtain safety certifications by working directly with labs such as Underwriters Laboratories
  • Support Manufacturing in meeting their obligations for production line testing, quality, labeling, and record keeping as it pertains to safety certifications
  • Provide technical support to set up laboratory equipment and test racks to carry out required testing


What You Will Bring to ChargePoint

  • Fluency in both written and verbal English is mandatory
  • Experience in the design, test, and certification of electrical products to international standards using 3rd party testing laboratories.
  • Experience in Regulatory and Compliance Engineering, such as Safety testing and certification
  • Self-directed and self-motivated


Requirements

  • BS/MS in Physics or Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, will consider other related engineering degrees
  • 2-4 years related experience in Electrical & technical fields, with Regulatory Engineering experience in Electric Vehicle charging equipment preferred but not required
  • Thorough understanding of how to apply safety standards requirements to product design
  • Ability to evaluate creepages, clearances, etc., to board design and review
  • Understanding of pollution degrees, overvoltage categories, how to apply, test, and evaluate these characteristics
  • Understanding of insulation systems and insulation coordination
  • Basic coding skills are highly desirable
  • Willingness to travel periodically as needed

ChargePoint is committed to fair andequitablecompensation practices.The targeted US salary range for roles at this operating level is $100,000 to $155,000. This range represents base salary and does not reflect equity, benefits, or variable pay where applicable. Actual base salaries are based on several factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications, and specific work location.
