We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join Procore's Platform Services Division. In this role, you will build and maintain tools that support the operational excellence of services and the platform.

As a Staff Software Engineer on the DevOps Tools Team, you will be responsible for designing and building platform services that address secrets management, operational ingestion pipeline, asset inventory, and compliance needs. You will combine your people and technical skills along with good design principles to create platforms developers can easily integrate with. The goal of this team is to help Procore maintain a high level of reliability through building tools for operational excellence. This position reports to the Engineering Manager of the DevOps Tools team and will be based in our Austin, TX office. We're looking for someone to join us immediately.

What you'll do:

  • Implement robust and scalable platform software components.

  • Mentor. Create and share best practices for the devops tools space with other engineers.

  • Participate in on-call rotation supporting the team's production tools.

  • Engineer End-to-End Operational Data Pipelines: Own the architectural lifecycle of our operational data pipeline, from high-throughput event ingestion to ensuring data reliability across critical analytical sinks. You will be responsible for the entire flow-receiving infrastructure events, discovery data, and security signals, and landing them into sinks such as Databricks and Compass for advanced compliance analysis and platform health monitoring.

  • Rollout Procore's Vault-backed Secrets Management Platform (SMP), driving the strategic transition from legacy static credentials to a Zero Trust, identity-based model through the implementation of OIDC and automated dynamic credential frameworks.

  • Drive AISDLC Innovation: Evangelize the use of AI in the software development lifecycle to improve code quality and security. You will implement AI-powered guardrails in our ingestion pipelines to proactively identify and remediate secret sprawl or compliance drift before it reaches production.

What we're looking for:

  • Kubernetes Expertise: Deep technical mastery of the Kubernetes ecosystem.

  • Demonstrated mastery of at least of the following: Golang, TypeScript, HCL

  • Data Engineering & Ingestion Expertise: Ability to build robust operational pipelines for asset inventory or compliance auditing. You know how to manage the "source of truth" for thousands of distributed technical assets across varied geographic regions is a plus.
  • External Secrets Operator, Helm, Terraform, SQL and database schema design is a plus.

  • Experience with AWS, Vault, Databricks, Data pipelines frameworks, streaming tools (Kafka), API design. Understanding of Data Analytics is a plus.

  • Software security engineering best practices - specifically OIDC, PKI, principals of minimum privilege, certificate rotation is a plus

  • Familiarity with operational control planes, APIs - observability, logging, telemetry is a plus.

  • AI-First Development Mindset: Proficiency in leveraging AI tools (Copilot, LLM APIs, and autonomous agents) to accelerate the software lifecycle is a plus.
Additional Information

Base Pay Range:

168,560.00 - 231,770.00 USD Annual

This role may also eligible for Equity Compensation. Procore is committed to offering competitive, fair, and commensurate compensation, and has provided an estimated pay range for this role. Actual compensation will be based on a candidate's job-related skills, experience, education or training, and location.
