DevOps Software Engineer
Position Overview

At Aurora Flight Sciences, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies from concept to reality. We are searching for a talented and self-motivated DevOps Software Engineer to help us create the future of flight. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for both development of capabilities and the sustainment of the tool stack and software used in the execution of Aurora's mission - Advancing the Future of Flight. The technologies and activities are more broad than other traditional DevSecOps roles -the candidate should be able to demonstrate skills in areas such as GitLab CI/CD pipeline design and containerization to and administration of software stacks.

-This position will work with both other IT professionals and the engineering teams that delivers time-critical designs for our products.
-The candidate will need to show the ability to take modestly defined requirements and translate those into solutions that meet the intent and conform to the Aurora IT standards.
-Responsible for development cycles in integration/continuous deployment mode, they can fulfill different missions: Process monitoring; Incident management; Testing, selection and implementation of technologies, tools and working methods; Automation of security controls; Control and management of security operations.
-Threat investigation / Risk Analysis: This component in DevOps approach assists you to identify the threats in the process along with the code update and respond quickly to it.
-Vulnerability assessment: Recognizes the latest vulnerabilities with the code analysis and how quickly they could be resolved.
-Demonstrated understanding of how to retrieve / export data from databases and other systems and tools using queries, exporting capabilities, and other effective methods.
-Develop automations to be used throughout the organization technologies.
-Perform and 2nd level technical support for complex issues.

Minimum Requirements

-Must be US Person.
-Bachelors Degree in Software Engineering; or equivalent corporate experience and certifications.
-Support IT with install and maintenance of infrastructure and inhouse developed software applications.
-Proficient in some languages used in the software division: C/C++, Python, MATLAB / Simulink, Bash scripting.

Preferred Requirements

-Demonstrated ability to take basic user requirements and translate those into written design/requirements and implement those in the below technologies.
-Author design documentation and release documentation outlining infrastructure capabilities.
-Advanced skill in designing an integrating complex tool stacks across multiple platforms and applications.
-Ability to work with IT to tailor NIST cybersecurity platform requirements into concrete solutions inside systems and applications.
-Familiarity with NIST-800 security policies.
-Experience working with software division stakeholders to optimize and automate workflows and solve complex problems that arise across the division technologies.
-Familiarity with lifecycle management tools such as the Atlassian tool suite, etc. and package management solutions such as Conan, etc.
-Knowledge of the implementation of risk assessment techniques and the latest security best practices.
-Proficient communication skills to teach the team various concepts like scalability, automation, and security.

Physical Requirements

-Ability to work on-site weekly at our Manassas, VA site.

Salary Range (Annualized USD)

  • Minimum Range: $69,000.00 to $123,000.00
  • Maximum Range: $88,000.00 to $157,000.00
