POSITION SUMMARY:



Perform daily production activities of work center operations and perform preventive maintenance on equipment as assigned by Production Supervisor, Production Manager, or Operations Manager. Operator is also responsible for developing and implementing process improvement.




POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:




  • Obtains manufacturing orders and stock orders from the production planning department. Receives raw materials, or goods-in-process, along with order, verifying orders are correct and determines whether order is complete or incomplete. Assists with the production of order, by coiling material.
  • Examines material as it is being processed. If material/product is unacceptable, stops the process, and orders a remake.
  • Heats product and places on warm flat bed for coiling. Coils heated product to rod and sets aside for cooling period. Places finished good, after cooling, into boxes.
  • Verify manufacturing efficiency and quality (accuracy, scrap, utilization, rework, equipment downtime)
  • Confirm on-time delivery (lead-time, shipment against schedule)
  • Participates in weekly and monthly inventory counts and report quantities to purchasing
  • Complete and report Stock Order and Manufacturing Order Paperwork and recording requirements
  • Cultivate procedure development, review, and implementation
  • Expand comprehension and motivation
  • Communicate with other employees and customers in a calm and professional manner; and listen well.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and minor repairs when necessary
  • Maintain production rate consistency; meet or exceed established minimum production rates.
  • Work effectively on different projects simultaneously.
  • Comply with relevant occupational health and safety requirements
  • Keep the production area neat, clean and organized.




PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT




There is moderate risk of injury if performing Coiling. If performing coiling, must be able to lift 50 lbs and work on feet for entire shift. Safety equipment is required to be worn when on production floor. Work hours are an average of 40 hours a week. May require some additional hours when production demand is at high levels. Consistent and regular attendance required.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:




  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 6 months - 1 year previous experience as a Coiler or Production Associate
  • Technical skills related to basic equipment maintenance required.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work at a fast pace.
  • High attention to detail; a good eye for color and design is necessary.
