How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

The Strategic Sourcing Lead is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that optimize cost, mitigate supply risk, and ensure continuity of supply across critical categories. This role partners closely with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Supply Chain to drive supplier performance, support business growth, and enable long-term value creation.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Develop and execute category-level sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead supplier selection, RFQ/RFP processes, negotiations, and contract development.
  • Identify cost-reduction, value engineering, and total cost of ownership (TCO) opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and strategic partners.
  • Assess and mitigate supply chain risks, including capacity, lead time, and geopolitical exposure.
  • Drive supplier performance through KPIs, scorecards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations on NPI, dual sourcing, and alternate qualification.
  • Ensure sourcing decisions meet quality, compliance, and sustainability requirements.
  • Provide clear data-driven insights and recommendations to leadership.
  • Assist in placing purchase order.

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

Required Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management.
  • Proven experience leading complex negotiations and supplier strategy development.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and contract management skills.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Experience in manufacturing, electronics, or regulated industries preferred.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strategic thinking and execution.
  • Supplier relationship management.
  • Cost modeling and negotiation.
  • Risk management and problem solving.
  • Clear communication and executive presence.
  • Strategic thinking and execution.
  • Procurement or Sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment desirable.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • ERP Systems

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field required.

Travel & Working Environment

  • Hybrid or office-based role with occasional remote flexibility. 3 day office requirement.
  • Requires 15-30% travel for supplier visits, audits, and business units (domestic and international).
  • Fast-paced, cross-functional environment requiring strong organization and communication.
  • Occasional extended hours may be needed to support global projects and deadlines.

The compensation information that follows is a reasonable estimate for the position and is provided pursuant to legal requirements in this state. The salary estimate provided represents the typical salary range for the position, and other factors may be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary, including: skill set, experience, training, education, organizational needs, internal equity, market data, and geographic zone. The estimated salary range for this position is: $77,900 - $100,000. At SPX, it is not common for individuals to be hired at the higher end of the range, and compensation decisions depend on a variety of factors. This role is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus plan, subject to the rules governing the plan. SPX offers a variety of benefits, including health benefits, 401k retirement with a company match, and flexible time off.
