The Quincy Kroc Center is seeking responsible, safety-focused individuals to join our Aquatics team as part-time Lifeguards. In this role, you'll play a critical part in keeping our members and guests safe while helping create a welcoming, fun, and secure environment for swimmers of all ages.

No lifeguard certification yet? No problem We provide lifeguard certification and pay you for your training time. If you're ready to learn, stay alert, and take on an important responsibility, we'll give you the tools to succeed.

Position Details

Position Type: Part-time, working up to 19 hours/week

Pay Rate: $15.00-$17.00/hour, based on role progression and responsibilities

Schedule: Flexibles shifts available, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Position Overview

Lifeguards are responsible for maintaining a safe aquatic environment by actively monitoring pool areas, enforcing safety rules, and responding quickly and effectively to emergencies. This role combines vigilance, customer services, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment where attention and accountability matter every shift.

What You'll Do



  • Actively monitor pool areas to ensure the safety of all swimmers
  • Enforce aquatic rules in a firm, friendly, and professional manner
  • Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, rescues, and first aid situations
  • Maintain a high level of alertness and professionalism at all times
  • Assist guests with questions and provide clear safety guidance
  • Help keep pool decks, equipment, and aquatic spaces clean and organized
  • Work as part of a team to support a safe, welcoming aquatics environment


What We're Looking For



  • Must be at least 15 years of age; applicants who are 15 years old must provide a valid Illinois work permit prior to hire
  • Strong swimming skills and comfort in the water
  • Willingness to complete paid lifeguard certification and training upon hire
  • Ability to remain calm, focused, and decisive in emergency situations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Dependable, safety-minded, and team-oriented attitude


Physical & Working Conditions



  • Ability to remain alert, attentive, and focused for extended periods
  • Continuous scanning of pool and deck areas
  • Ability to swim, tread water, and perform water rescues as required
  • Ability to lift, support, or assist individuals in emergency situations
  • Work performed in an indoor aquatic environment with exposure to humidity, pool chemicals, and noise
