Summary: Under the general supervision of the Employee Health Manager, and according to established policies and procedures, coordinates and employs practices in an occupational health care setting that assists in assuring optimal mental and physical health care to employees utilizing the nursing process. Demonstrates competencies in disease processes, normal and abnormal test results, physical and emotional needs, safety needs, verbal and nonverbal communication in the treatment and care of employees. Responsibilities: Performs duties and interacts with employees in a manner that projects a positive image of the department and hospital. Works with other members of the department to promote a harmonious work environment. Ensures that all contact with employees, patients, physicians and ancillary personnel are friendly, courteous and helpful. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT Two years' experience as an Occupational Health Nurse in a hospital setting or 3-5 years general nursing practice experience. BSN preferred.
LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION Current license as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS Communication and counseling skills including verbal, non-verbal and listening skills. Technical competence for professional growth and development. Administrative and computer skills. Current certification in CPR.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Exposure to potentially contagious diseases. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens requiring the use of protective equipment. Low noise environment. Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT Primarily sedentary with frequent standing, walking and reaching. hearing, speech, and visual acuity are essential.
