The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Department of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics is looking to hire a Senior Technician to work in the laboratory of Dr. Sergei Doulatov. As part of the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center, Edward P. Evans MDS Center, and Columbia Stem Cell Initiative, the Doulatov Lab studies the fundamental mechanisms by which blood cancers arise and develop from healthy blood-forming stem cells by employing induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) and other advanced models. The candidate will assist with general lab management and organization, and work with PI and lab investigators to provide technical support and contribute to ongoing research projects.

Responsibilities

Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Assist with general lab management and organization tasks including ordering supplies, maintaining inventory, and other tasks to ensure the lab is running smoothly.
  • Prepare common reagents, maintain stocks of cell lines and plasmids, process blood samples, reprogram and maintain a repository of iPSC lines, maintain the mouse colony.
  • Support and contribute to ongoing research projects in the lab.
  • Works independently or collaboratively with other lab members under supervision of PI.
  • Specific goals and tasks will be defined on a project-by-project basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Science and at least one and one-half years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Master's degree in biological sciences.
  • Technical skills in cell culture, flow cytometry, and animal experiments.
