Duties/Responsibilities


Duties/Responsibilities
Planning & Organization Assists in implementing lesson plans set forth by the Lead Teacher or designated lead. Ensures that the daily routine is followed and that transitions during the day are smooth and provide learning opportunities.
Interactions With Children Interactions are in accordance with the guidelines of the NAEYC and developmentally appropriate practice. Interactions are respectful of children. Interactions encourage independence, confidence, trust and success in everyday activities. Self-discipline is encouraged in a loving, caring way by providing clear directions and guidance. Supervision of the entire classroom and playground is ensured while interacting with small groups of children.
Interactions with Families Demonstrates warmth and friendliness through interactions. Uses effective listening skills that demonstrate respect and understanding and communicates family requests to a classroom teacher.
Guidance Uses guidance techniques that foster self-control in children. Uses positive guidance techniques such as positively worded statements, getting on children's eye level, speaking in a calm voice, and reflecting children's feelings. Respects the feelings of children and understands the child's developmental level.
Communication Effectively communicates with Assistant Director concerning hours and availability, including changes in schedule. Returns phone calls or text messages when messages are left indicating a need for a substitute. Understands importance of honoring availability provided on application.
