Job Summary
The Director of Targeting & Alignment is a strategic, client-facing leader who executes the vision and direction of the Targeting & Alignment department. This role is responsible for delivering advanced targeting, segmentation, and alignment strategies that drive brand performance and commercial success for our customers. They will champion the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Precision Targeting methodologies to evolve our service offerings. This role requires a forward-thinking leader who can guide senior-level client discussions, leveraging deep industry expertise and the ability to derive insights from data for the purpose of maximizing brand value and optimizing brand performance and results. As the head of Targeting & Alignment, the Director will be responsible for leading a team of analysts, ensuring the delivery of high quality, innovative solutions that maximize customer engagement and business growth.
Key Job Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Execute the strategic vision for the Targeting & Alignment department, ensuring its capabilities align and evolve with industry trends and customer needs
  • Innovation: Integrate AI, ML, and predictive analytics to drive forward Syneos' novel Precision Targeting approach, and leverage dynamic, self-optimizing alignment tools
  • Client Partnership: Serve as a strategic thought partner for clients and internal leadership, translating business goals into actionable targeting strategies, call plans, and field alignments. Communicate recommendations based on the analytical work of the team's analysts.
  • Team Development & Management: Lead the Targeting & Alignment team. Set departmental goals, manage performance, and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and professional excellence
  • Execution & Oversight: Direct the design and implementation of customer segmentation, targeting, and territory alignment solutions that optimize field force effectiveness and increase efficiency
  • Creating Deployment Blueprints: Creating a structured, analog style repository of best practice Targeting & Alignment deployments across each stage of the product life cycle, serving as blueprints for future implementations. This includes establishing historical data sets to support and train future machine learning models
  • Operational Excellence: Monitor departmental metrics, budgets, and project hours to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery and operational efficiency
  • Market Leadership: Continuously monitor the Targeting & Alignment landscape and evolve our capabilities to fuel Syneos Health's future success. Strengthen Syneos' market image and competitive positioning as the client's partner of choice for Targeting & Alignment work
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Strat Ops, Data Innovation, Data Management, Reporting & Analytics, Account Activation, Client Services, Sales Leadership, and other departments
Job Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in business, analytics, life sciences, or a related field. Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MS, PhD) preferred
Experience
  • 8+ years of experience in pharmaceutical targeting & alignment, sales operations, commercial analytics, or a related field
  • Demonstrated leadership in designing and delivering U.S. field team territories, HCP targeting, and segmentation strategies
  • Proven track-record of building and leading high-performing analytical teams
  • Deep understanding of pharmaceutical commercial operations, market dynamics, and data sources (Rx, sales, medical claims, pharmacy claims, market access)
  • Extensive experience engaging and influencing senior stakeholders (VP level and above)
  • Firsthand expertise with territory alignment software and data analytics platforms
  • Intimate familiarity with the US geography
  • Experience applying AI concepts to commercial operations

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $X to $Y. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and / or individual performance.
