Position Summary

The Associate Director, Commercial Renewable Operations is a senior field and operational leadership role responsible for overseeing the performance, safety, and profitability of multiple renewable energy assets, with a primary focus on wind operations. This role provides strategic direction and operational oversight to site leadership teams, ensuring best-in-class execution across safety, reliability, compliance, and financial performance.

The Associate Director leads a team of supervisors, technicians, and contractors while partnering cross-functionally with engineering, asset management, commercial, and executive leadership. This position is accountable for fostering strong relationships with landowners, power off-takers, and local communities, while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence across assigned assets.

This position can be based at the Los Vientos Wind site (III, IV, V) in Rio Grande City, Texas or Los Vientos 1A/1B in Lyford, Texas. This role will have oversight responsibilities to both of these assets.

Main Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Strategy

  • Provide strategic oversight of day-to-day operations across assigned wind assets to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and profitability

  • Translate corporate objectives into actionable site-level execution plans and performance targets

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimization, cost control, and operational efficiency

Safety & Compliance

  • Champion a culture of safety excellence and environmental stewardship across all sites

  • Foster an attitude of continuous improvement towards safety

  • Ensure full compliance with safety, regulatory, and environmental standards

  • Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of supervisors and technical staff, fostering a high-performance culture with strong collaboration across sites

  • Establish clear goals, accountability structures, and succession planning for site leadership

  • Support workforce planning, training programs, and capability development across operations

Asset Performance & Maintenance

  • Oversee maintenance strategies for turbines, substations, and balance-of-plant (BOP) systems

  • Ensure effective troubleshooting, predictive maintenance, and reliability-centered maintenance practices

  • Provide escalation support for complex technical and operational challenges

Stakeholder & Commercial Management

  • Maintain strong relationships with landowners, power off-takers, regulators, and community stakeholders

  • Partner with commercial and asset management teams to meet contractual obligations and maximize asset value

  • Represent Deriva Energy in community engagement and external stakeholder interactions

Financial & Administrative Oversight

  • Manage operating budgets, forecasts, and cost performance for assigned assets

  • Oversee contractor performance, vendor relationships, and service agreements

  • Ensure accurate reporting, compliance documentation, and operational metrics tracking

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degreeAND five (5) years or more of related work experience

  • In lieu of bachelor's degree, high school diploma/GED AND 10 years or more years of related work experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field

  • One year (1) or more leading field service teams

  • Strong knowledge of wind turbine operations, maintenance practices, and substation systems

  • Demonstrated experience managing safety programs and regulatory compliance

  • Extensive experience managing multi-site renewable energy operations

  • Proven success leading supervisors, managers, or large field teams

  • Deep technical expertise across multiple turbine OEM platforms

  • Experience with high-voltage systems, substations, and transmission infrastructure

  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and P&L responsibility

  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across corporate and field organizations

  • Experience in contract management and stakeholder engagement

Working Conditions

  • Ability to travel frequently across assigned sites and occasionally across the broader fleet

  • Willingness to work in outdoor and industrial environments, including exposure to weather and operational hazards

  • Occasional climbing of wind turbines and site inspections as needed

  • Ability to meet physical requirements consistent with site safety standards

  • Valid driver's license
