The Senior Clinical Technologist (aka lead or coordinator) independently performs lab tests and processes on patient samples or products which involves analytical instruments. The role provides training to others, leads projects, and supports laboratory operations. Each Senior Clinical Technologist is the primary team member responsible for the day-to-day technical oversight of their assigned area or bench.

This position is based out of the South Lake Union campus, 825 Eastlake Ave E, Seattle, WA, 98109. (May help cover our Satellite labs as needed)

1.0 FTE - 40 hours per week - Monday through Friday 8a-4:30p (Hours may change based on business need)



Responsibilities

    Performs all the primary responsibilities of a Clinical Technologist
  • Provides new laboratory staff orientation, training, and competency assessments
  • Initiates or leads projects
  • Primary responsibility for quality control troubleshooting, set-up (i.e. new lots), and maintenance/review in assigned area
  • Primary oversight of instrument operations including managing required maintenance, complex troubleshooting, supply management, and regulatory compliance in assigned area
  • Primary responsibility for management of CAP requirements associated with assigned area
  • Develop policies and procedures


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science; or medical technology from an accredited institution; or a Bachelor's degree and equivalent education and training as defined in 42CFR493.1489(b)(3). Must meet the CLIA education requirements for a high complexity testing
  • 4 years of accumulated laboratory experience, including 1 year training and experience in the designated discipline or area of service.
  • At least 1 year of previous experience in a lead/senior tech/coordinator role or above (i.e., supervisor, manager, etc., must be verified by title) in a clinical lab with a total of 2 years of clinical lab experience performing high complexity testing in lieu of 4 total years may also be acceptable.
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist or an equivalent certification with certified maintenance of continuing education through ASCP, AMT or AAB, required within 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to train students, new graduates, and experienced team members
  • Ability to interpret applicable laboratory regulations
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
  • Ability to develop and/or present content to senior leaders and other groups
  • Must be able to differentiate between colors and pass a standardized color vision screen to perform this role
  • Demonstrated experience with change management, conflict resolution, and complex problem solving

Preferred:

  • At least 2 years of laboratory training or experience, or both, in nonwaived testing, in hematology and/or chemistry. Meets the CLIA training and experience requirements for a high complexity general supervisor and technical consultant in hematology and/or chemistry.
  • Certified CAP Inspector Team Member

The hourly pay range for this position is from $44.79 to $67.17 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
