What to Expect
We are seeking a skilled Paint Technician with experience in a high volume automotive paint shop. The ideal candidate will be responsible for mixing and spraying
paint and primer, performing surface preparation, and ensuring the highest quality finish on vehicle
bodies and parts. You will maintain spray equipment, manage paint storage areas, and support
preventive maintenance activities. Proficiency in using assembly equipment, power tools, and
Microsoft applications is essential.
What You'll Do
- Mix and spray paint and primer per work instructions
- Priming, sanding, masking and buffing body parts and bodies of the vehicles in accordance with Tesla's quality specifications and time standards
- Operate and use all equipment properly and safely
- Maintain spray equipment pressure pots, spray guns, booth and paint storage area
- Escalate functional and process failures to the appropriate support groups and leaders
- Support Paint shop necessary preventive maintenance in paint shop such as cleaning Paint booth and Paint ovens during shutdowns.Flexible on supporting Production groups on any needs such as tagging breaks only when necessary
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years of experience working in a high volume automotive paint shop
- An understanding of common defects, what causes paint failures and how to correct them
- Experienced in surface preparation and paint finishing (color sanding and finish polishing)
- Experienced in cleaning panels in preparation for painting and priming
- Use of assembly equipment and tooling (power tools, automated equipment)
- Proficient in Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word and Powerpoint
Essential Physical Demands
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain
- Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
- Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts
- Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
- Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, clean coveralls in cleanroom and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
