Position Summary

Supports the new product development of electromechanical sensing and actuation systems in active noise and vibration control, tactile feedback / steer-by-wire, and drive shaft torque sensing. Responsible for the application of standard quality engineering practices related to new product development activities (systems, hardware, and software), quality systems, processes, and products/materials, to assure compliance with customer technical expectations, and quality-related regulatory requirements. The Quality Engineering team works closely with the Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Verification and Validation, and Software Engineering teams to develop, qualify, and certify these technologies as products for customers in aerospace and industrial markets. The individual will have the following responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate and complete assigned NPI Project assignments and Quality Improvement tasks in a timely, proactive, professional and effective manner.
  • Identify, and communicate to the organization, customer, regulatory, and Parker Lord product-specific quality requirements, for assigned products and customers, and assist with internal quality planning efforts to assure compliance in a cost-effective manner.
  • Participate in the development, documentation, implementation, audit and improvement of quality systems and processes, as assigned, to assure conformance and effectiveness (i.e. AS9100, ISO9001, DO-178, DO-254, etc.).
  • Support the company quality image through interface with customer personnel to clarify quality requirements and resolve quality problems in a professional, timely, effective and cost-conscious manner with empathy to the needs of the customer.
  • Achieve ongoing improvements to customer satisfaction and quality metrics through team-based improvement activity, individual improvement initiatives and appropriate application of basic continuous improvement tools and methods.
  • Lead problem solving (8D) process and coordinate improvement activities to resolve product and process non-conformances for assigned products/materials and processes, with guidance.
  • Solve non-routine technical problems with moderate complexity (design and execution of root cause investigations and troubleshooting, intermediate data analysis, and intermediate report generation).
  • Implement technical solutions to some challenging problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practical and consistent with organization objectives.

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Engineering or related technical field (Chemistry, Biology, Industrial Science, etc.).
  • 2 or more years of experience in a related technical field.
  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines. Intermediate Product line, industry, and/or manufacturing process knowledge.
  • Understanding and utilization of quality engineering tools, methods, processes (PPAP, FMEA, layered process audits, software quality assurance, troubleshooting, SPC, etc.).


Preferred:

  • Experience with Industry Standards: AS9100, ISO9001, AS9145, DO-178, DO-254, etc.
  • Experience with product lifecycle, from conception through production sustainment.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience with ASQ Certified Quality Engineering practices.
  • Experience with ASQ Certified Software Quality Engineering practices.
  • Experience with AIAG/IAQG PPAP Manuals
  • Certified Green Belt or equivalent training/experience
