Job Profile Summary

This role focuses on supporting the education and development of employees or students by developing education, curricula, materials, and programs to support educational growth. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Nursing Education duties: Focuses primarily on making new discoveries for the scientific community in the nursing field. A professional individual contributor role that may direct the work of other lower level professionals or manage processes and programs. The majority of time is spent overseeing the design, implementation or delivery of processes, programs and policies using specialized knowledge and skills typically acquired through advanced education. A senior level role that requires advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Typically responsible for: managing projects / processes, working independently with limited supervision, coaching and reviewing the work of lower level professionals, resolving difficult and sometimes complex problems.

The RN Educator promotes excellence and innovation in nursing care, contributes to the growth and development of nursing staff through education activities, and facilitates the application of nursing theory to clinical practice consistent with all regulatory agencies.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Massachusetts RN Licensure.

2. 3 Years of RN Experience.

3. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

4. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Master's Degree in Health Administration, Nursing, Business Administration, or another related field.

1. Conducts a comprehensive evaluation of all educational activities and utilizes this data for future programming.

2. Collaborates with leadership and staff to develop and evaluate educational programs.

3. Develops content and strategies to meet learning needs.

4. Coordinates orientation of nursing staff to the organization/unit.

5. Provides educational opportunities that benefit nurses at all stages of their career.

6. Delivers competence-based programs for nursing staff with a focus upon improvement of skills and retention of knowledge.

7. Evaluates the effectiveness of educational programming.

8. Evaluates and makes recommendations about Performance Improvement issues relevant to areas of nursing practice and patient care.

9. Encourages and promotes collaboration between staff members and hospital departments.

10. Acts as a role model for clinical excellence and promotion of professional practice.

11. Assists in clinical problem-solving and the development of critical thinking skills.

12. Maintains a current level of clinical expertise.

13. Collaborates with leadership to recommend educational strategies for the implementation clinical standards.

14. Consults with staff regarding individual learning needs.

15. Responds to changes in nursing practice and develops programs to support those changes.

16. Leads committees and/or projects related to the implementation of educational activities.

Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

Skills & Abilities:

1. Demonstrates advanced capabilities in the diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of human responses to actual or potential health problems.

2. Ability to be organized and systematic.

3. Ability to prioritize and simultaneously work on multiple tasks and projects.

4. Basic Microsoft Office computer skills.
