Job Summary


This position requires the skills and experience in the design and documentation of Mechanical systems manufactured by IPG Systems. Work skills and discipline are required to complete specific engineering tasks and will work closely with other Engineering personnel. You will be utilizing multiple engineering skills including design of mechanical structures, motion systems and electrical/pneumatic controls systems for robotic mechanism. The successful candidate must have a sense of accountability to ensure that equipment developed by IPG Systems is responsive to the needs of customers, cost effective, and delivered in a timely manner.



Job Functions


Responsible for Mechanical CAD design and development


Analyze product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine design requirements for manufacturability as defined by existing processes and methods


Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specification


Maintain documentation associated within a project including engineering change notices, bills of materials, detailed CAD models and associated component drawings.


Create and maintain part numbers and BOM's in the IPG ERP system


Directly involved in the transfer of hardware designs to manufacturing

Requirements

Education: Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology


Must have at least 1+ year of professional SolidWorks experience with familiarity in PDM


Must have at least 1+ year of professional 2D design/drafting skills in DraftSight or AutoCAD


Make final sketch of proposed drawing, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project


Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings


Edit existing designs for special applications including but not limited to reverse engineering designs


Maintain documentation and folder organization


Calculate factors like stack up tolerances, dimensions, and annotate drawings to latest standards


Conduct failure analyses, document results, and recommend corrective actions.


Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).


Ability to complete drawings accurately and quickly based on ISO standards and specifications


Ability to interact with other departments to obtain ideas, to create design concepts and solutions, ensure design quality


Prepare layouts of machinery, tools, plants, or equipment

The pay range on this posting applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location posted, the applicable range could differ. Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
