Director of Operations About the Role (Job Summary)

As the Director of Operations, you will lead a highvolume, 24/7 distribution operation and ensure exceptional performance in safety, quality, service, and cost. This role oversees multishift teams, drives operational excellence, and leads continuous improvement initiatives that support business growth and customer service commitments. You will play a critical role in shaping operational strategy, developing leaders, and ensuring regulatory compliance across a complex, fastpaced environment.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
  • Lead endtoend distribution operations across multiple shifts, ensuring strong performance in safety, quality, service, productivity, and cost.

  • Champion a safetyfirst culture by driving incident prevention, regulatory compliance, and consistent safe work practices.

  • Ensure full audit and regulatory readiness, including DSCSA and all applicable federal, state, and local requirements.

  • Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with enterprise goals and customer expectations.

  • Drive continuous improvement using BOS metrics, standard work, Lean/Six Sigma tools, and datadriven action plans.

  • Improve throughput, service levels, and workflow efficiency through engineeringbased solutions such as layout optimization, material flow, automation, and equipment reliability.

  • Lead, coach, and develop a highperforming leadership team; build engagement, accountability, and retention across all shifts.

  • Manage operating budgets, financial performance, and costtoserve metrics to achieve profitability targets.

  • Partner crossfunctionally with Sales, Finance, Regulatory, IT, HR, and external vendors to execute business strategies and resolve operational challenges.

  • Lead change management initiatives related to operational transformation, process redesign, and new technology implementations.

Basic Requirements (Minimum Education & Typical Experience)

These requirements must be clearly visible on a resume.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 10+ years of operations experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role within a large, complex, or regulated distribution, logistics, or manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated experience leading multishift or 24/7 operations.

  • Strong knowledge of supply chain operations, inventory management, and Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.

  • Proven ability to manage budgets, performance metrics, and operational KPIs.

  • Experience using operational systems and tools (e.g., Labor Management Systems, WMS, Slot Active, CoPilot, analytics platforms).

Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field.

  • Experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical distribution, or other highly regulated industries.

  • Experience leading automation, engineering, or technologydriven operational improvements.

  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and crossfunctional leadership skills.

  • Experience leading largescale change management initiatives.

Work Environment, Travel, and Physical Requirements
  • This role requires onsite leadership in a distribution center environment.

  • May require occasional travel for enterprise meetings, training, or vendor visits.

  • Ability to work across all shifts as needed to support a 24/7 operation.

  • Must be able to navigate warehouse environments, including walking, standing, and exposure to varying temperatures.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$119,700 - $199,500
