Job Summary:


IPG is dedicated to developing next-generation products and processes using our state-of-the-art laser technologies. We are seeking an R&D Optical/Test Engineer Intern to join our team and support scan lens and scan head design improvement.


This role requires a motivated individual with a strong ability to learn quickly and follow established procedures.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Support the R&D Engineering team with scan lens and scan head design improvements
  • Enhance existing test setups to improve performance and reliability
  • Execute test plans and design of experiments (DOE)
  • Analyze data and prepare clear, concise reports and presentations summarizing results

Requirements

Educational Background



  • Must be enrolled in an engineering degree program (Optical Engineering preferred)


Technical Skills



  • Knowledge of basic engineering principles and practices
  • Familiarity with optical design software (Code-V, ZEMAX Optics Studio preferred)
  • Knowledge of lens and optical system design
  • Experience with laser-based system is a plus
  • Optical lab experience is a plus
  • Proficiency with test data analysis and technical reporting
  • Familiarity with Solid Works is a plus
  • Experience with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Power Point)

Pay Range:


The pay range on this posting applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location posted, the applicable range could differ. Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.



Benefits Interns receive:


- Medical Insurance (BCBS Saver Plan, no company match) - eligible after 90 days of continuous employment based on scheduled hours per week.

- 401k (Age 21+ eligible after 1,000 hours of continuous employment).

- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

- Sick time (accrued based on hours worked)
