Electrical Engineer I, Titan

ICON is looking for an Electrical Engineer I to help in the development of ICON's latest print systems on the Titan Team. This team is responsible for delivering the machine known as Titan to Serial Production. As an Electrical Engineer I at ICON, you will be in a hands-on development and technical design role with responsibility for the creation and support of well-designed, maintainable electrical systems. This role is based at ICON's Austin, TX office and will report to our Manager of Titan Electrical Engineer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Contribute to cross-functional electrical design efforts on a robotic platform for construction, focusing on motion control and fluid system integration
  • Assist in designing and prototyping electrical systems and instrumentation under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Assist in advancing systems from prototype to commercialization, including panel design and fabrication in compliance with UL508A, NFPA 79, UL2011, NFPA 70 (NEC), and related standards
  • Provide hands-on support for troubleshooting, process optimization, and manufacturing, while designing and integrating solutions in a fast-paced, AGILE development environment
  • Apply established engineering principles and company design standards to develop solutions
  • Support lean and efficient manufacturing practices
  • Demonstrate flexibility by performing a wide range of tasks daily, including transitioning between office-based design work and on-site field activities as needed
  • Align individual contributions with company-wide Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), ensuring progress toward strategic goals


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in electrical engineering
  • Developing ability to apply first-principles thinking to solve engineering problems of moderate scope
  • Exposure to industrial equipment design and familiarity with real-time PLC systems
  • Familiarity with the design of cable harnesses and electrical panels for industrial machinery
  • Solid understanding of UL508A standards and industrial electrical design practices
  • Proficient in SolidWorks Electrical Schematics and/or SolidWorks Electrical 3D; experience with Product Data Management (PDM) tools is preferred
  • Familiar with reading and creating schematics in accordance with ANSI and ISO standards
  • Effective communicator and collaborator, capable of working cross-functionally to develop optimal solutions
  • Knowledge of, or a willingness to learn, AGILE project management methodologies
  • Familiarity with UL508A and industrial electrical design practices, or willingness to develop expertise
  • Service-oriented mindset when operating in a support capacity
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and maintain composure in a fast-paced, start-up environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.


PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:



  • 1-2 years of experience designing and building industrial automation equipment, or equivalent experience in a related technical field
  • Prior experience in a start-up environment and/or a demonstrated ability to innovate, optimize processes, and work resourcefully in dynamic settings
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, with strong troubleshooting skills across both electrical and mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with machine safety standards, including ISO 13849 and related regulations
  • Solid understanding of UL508A standards and industrial electrical design practices
  • Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies, including Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles
  • Hands-on experience with industrial safety systems
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • A continuous learner with a strong drive for personal and professional growth
